Well, version 16.11.26 is now released and should be downloadable from Game Jolt any moment. Of course I don’t believe in Bug-Free, so the issue tracker will be open until the end of my days… (sounds dramatic eh).
Well, as the picture above implies, this means the Star Story project has officially come to an end. Any bugs that may be hidden somewhere will be addressed, but that will really be all.
And still there was a lot done between the last beta and this version, so a little changelog is in order.
The camera bug in the flower forest is fixed
The no-return bug in the flower forest is fixed
FIXED: The “disappearing destinations” bug in the final dungeon is fixed.
This only affected the rooms after the second boss (and sometimes the room with the second boss itself).
The issue was caused because some keycards were not saved. A whole system has been set up for this.
This renders ALL savegames past entering the final dungeon prior to this version incompatible, but don’t fret, Jeroen doesn’t want you to do this place all over again. A conversion routine will start up when loading your savegame, converting all data to the new system as well as it can. A message and a longer loadtime is the result, but if it succeeds (it mostly does) you can resume the game like always.
In the floors that were affected act up, the game will automatically try to repair it. This will result into getting you all keycards for that floor, even when you had no right to them yet and even when they don’t even exist on that floor. All I can say about that is this. The game cannot figure out if the keycard was there or not. If it’s not given while you should have it, the game would be rendered unfinishable. This auto-repair makes that you can at least reach the final boss.
If you did not even reach the final dungeon yet, you can ignore all this shit about it, as you should not be affected at all.
FIXED: The game would crash when you’d reach the max level
The achievements for reaching level 10,000 should work now
These achievements have on Game Jolt been promoted from gold to platinum, since they require A LOT of effort to attain.
New Game+ cycles have been capped on 10
The scroller in the Phantasar store now works
FIXED: The visibility issue in area 004 of the final dungeon has been fixed.
FIXED: Some text in the post-final-boss scenario did not appear. It does now.
Well, that’s all folks.
This project is done, no more monthly updates unless there are some serious bug fixes to take care of, or some special announcements to make about stuff related to this game.
It was fun working on Star Story and to bring the story of Wendicka Lovejoy and Crystal McLeen to life.
I hope you’ll grow to love Wendicka and friends as much as I do ;)
As you know I’m now working on The Fairy Tale REVAMPED, the remake of one of my first big RPG games. Well remake is a big word, though. A lot I’ve learned on the way while creating the original game, Dyrt and Star Story will be taken into fruition in this game. ;)
