(This is an update to the following article: https://gamejolt.com/p/subjective-list-fnaf-world-fan-game-recommendations-my-personal-ssyj59zj)
It's been a while since the last review of mine, am I right? The game just released in its 1.0.4 version. The game saw a change in dev, from @Sprenglok31 to @Eliass_
. This version was made under Elias' direction.
So... what has changed exactly?
The game, in the list, was in Not Recommended. And why is that? Because of many, many reasons which we will re-explore today:
the models are just ok and the animations bad. Did that change with this version? No, not really. It's still the same. There are plans to reanimate but until that happens, the problem persists
the character balancing. That's the biggest part of this update: the movesets and characters are much more balanced. Yes, some things got moved, but these are the keys to a good game experience. It feels more balanced than what it was before, which is a big leap. Glitchtrap is blocked behind key now, you need to go out of your way to the Glitch Area to get OP characters, like in the OG (including Fourth Closet Freddy), and overall progression is pretty good. That is very nice for now. The movesets aren't perfection incarnated, but they're a massive leap forward and that's what mostly matters in a game loop like this
the weird map additions keep being present but some things got moved around. Orville is now in Pinwheel Circus, for instance, which makes more sense. Not a lot changed for now, so weird map additions keeps being something to consider
new moves are still the same, so they are weirdly programmed or named
lazy unlock methods. The old game had a few. The new dev tried to move things around a bit and make the new unlocks more interesting in general. Did he succeed? In a way, he did. The Poppers are a bit better hidden now, for example, but they are still Poppers. From what I know, that will change too, but again this isn't the version in which it changes so let's put that aside for now
there's also a Mediocre Night! It's pretty buggy and accidentally teleports you to Glitch World with Glitchtrap, which is quite funny. It's not in great shape but it's a leftover from @Sprenglok for now, so it's a miracle @Eliass_
got it working without previous knowledge of the code
So... what changed? 10 new characters and a whole lot of rebalancing, so that's one less glaring issue to deal with. Is this objectively good now?
...
Not yet. But it's playable now. The animations are still really stiff and bad, but that's gonna be fixed later on. More moves are getting added... later on. This is what the new dev has managed to do in very little time, so this is still mostly 1.0.3, but the rebalancing is a massive update and it will keep going.
For now, this is an ok game. It's almost recommendable, which, if you read my previous review, is a miracle. But not quite yet.
The dev defined this as an early version for the game. He is right. This is a Beta build in a sense. It needs quite a bit of polishing. This is going in Very Conflicted for now and is on the road to become Recommended (even by the next version) and perhaps one day Highly Recommended.
In the state in which it is now, let's just be thankful that @Eliass_ managed to somehow salvage a difficult situation. And let's thank @Sprenglok for giving him the opportunity to continue the game for him.

So... what do you think? Do you agree or disagree? I'd love to know!
