Teaser Trailer for those who missed it!!
General Information
This section covers information about the base game mechanics. If this is not your first fnaf-like game, you can probably skip this section.
You will work as an employee at the famous restaurant Super Paxton Palace! You work the night shift, and must watch over the palace each night from 12AM-6AM. However as your night progresses you begin noticing some strange things happening around the restaurant... Soon enough your goal for each night evolves from completing your shift, to staying alive. More animatronics will be added each night, so it is in your best interest as an employee to study them and learn how to deal with their behaviors efficiently.
Information Continued
Since I am going to start doing devlogs (relatively) late in the development process, I will just start by writing about where we are thus far. I am going to do my best not to spoil anything on here however. A lot of effort was put into the lore so far, and we want everyone who plays to have their own experience with each animatronics mechanics, as well as discovering the lore for themselves.
With that said I will begin by saying that right now there are upwards of SEVEN animatronics, all with their own unique mechanics. Throughout your progression of the nights more of them will start to appear in your restaurant which will dramatically scale the intensity and hatred of your job.
Almost everything you do requires power and it is your duty to prevent the restaurant from running out of power. Or, y'know... you're dunzo. I also recommend stopping the animatronics. Or you're still dunzo.
Now that we are all caught up on how the game will be structured, I will just talk about some things I have been implementing recently.
GameJolt API and in-game Integration
I have been messing with the GameJolt API recently and one of the brilliant idea I had was to make a leaderboard for the custom night. I have playtested the custom night plenty of times and I can assure you setting them all to 20 is not a free win... So because of this I have set up a leaderboard for the highest custom night you were able to complete. Heres how it works: Your score will be calculated based on the sum of the AI values you give to the animatronics. So for example if I set them to 4/7/1/0/0... my leaderboard score would become 12 (4+7+1) after completing the night. (You must complete the night in order for your score to be submitted). Your score will automatically be submitted though as long as you are logged in with GameJolt in-game. Scores will be posted here: https://gamejolt.com/games/superpaxtonpalace/869985/scores/881000/best
While on the note of the GameJolt API, trophies/achievements will also be added for doing some fun challenges as well as just playing. Again you must be logged in with GameJolt in-game for this to work. Some of the trophies are already viewable here: https://gamejolt.com/games/superpaxtonpalace/869985/trophies
Closing
This has already gotten too long so I will end it here, and I will do my best to post updates frequently on here whenever relevant updates occur on the programming development end.
Thanks for reading, Justin
