Let's start bold. GIF is a horrible, outdated format that should've stopped being used altogether a decade ago like formats like .bmp. The quality is AWFUL and the file sizes are HUGE (a perceptually lossless webp animation will be ~20mb while an extremely compressed gif will be ~150mb!).
And to top it all off, Game Jolt already stores ALL non-animated images as .webp and animations as .mp4! Meaning that we are forced to kill the quality of our thumbnails for no good reason.
So, what's the idea?
Simple, just let us upload .mp4s and animated .webp for game thumbnails. I cannot imagine this being difficult to implement at all as Game Jolt already fully supports them.
