Lucas has an encounter with Chessmaster Lake, while possessing Haiden, in his investigations around Sunshine's following Reagan’s concerning report. While Lake has seemingly mellowed out over the past twenty years, Lucas is still a little distrustful and apprehensive of him, the aura he puts off is all kinds of wrong on Lucas’ senses. So the ghost/possible Eldritch horror issues a slight threat in defence of Reagan, invoking the memories of what happened last time Lake got hostile with anyone Lucas cared about. Rory/Catnap also takes initiative to issue her own threat, her rage is something Lake remembers all too well, Lucas is not so amused by Rory's actions and calls her off.

Lucas is not very keen on provoking Lake, especially since Haiden asked him to keep the hostility to a minimum. Lake, meanwhile, is already formulating plans and strategies to get Haiden and Lucas both present in the same room, so he can speak with them and reassure Haiden and Lucas he means no harm. To them, Ashley or Reagan.

Lake is no threat to Haiden, Lucas, Reagan, Ashley or anyone they are close to. Though Lucas isn’t taking any chances, he died before he could see the completed “The Magic Hour” game, so he’s flying a little blind here as he doesn’t know what happens in the game. He knows the characters and setting but doesn’t know the plot, so he knows that Lake is definitely not supposed to be here.

Rory was Unalived by Lake in the 1980’s, so she especially dislikes him the most of the other animatronics. The form Lucas chose for her, when she became a Soul Embodiment, is Catnap from Poppy Playtime. She uses Catnap’s hallucinogenic red smoke to great effect when she needs to, only hers induced hallucinations and sleep only, no nightmares.

Lake remembers her rage extremely well when she fought him off during that fateful Sunday in 1994, so he’s a little more than determined to show her he means no harm to those under her protection anymore.
