heyo, hatoving here. I have some sad news to share.

I was minding my business as usual, when suddenly a Mitsubishi Mirage G4 came violently crashing into my apartment. I was completely fine, but the driver, whom I thought I recognized, came out with a pretty long face at the end… it was the horse. To make matters worse, I have to pay for the damages, even though the horse crashed into MY apartment.

And now… the horse is under-going surgery.

In other words, DEETS, the video game I made about that same horse, is under-going surgery. Despite it physically and mentally dying on itch.io and Game Jolt, it’s doing extremely well on Newgrounds, and I’m extremely happy that people are enjoying a game that was originally supposed to be made as a joke.

But there’s one thing I have to admit; the game severely lacks in game-play. And I personally think that DEETS has potential to actually become more of a fun game, IF I chose to spend time expanding it.

So, that’s exactly what I’m doing! I will be attempting to teach this “”“old””” horse some new tricks along with my great friend Juicimated as “co-writer”¹, who may or may not have a striking bias and affection for the horse². Another thing I will be doing to this new “rehorsed” version is put an original, fresh new coat of paint on the game, without using any copyrighted assets. It’s only a matter of time before someone sues me for this, so better make it original than to rely on copyrighted stuff that isn’t even mine.

What does this mean for DEETS as it stands right now? I will be probably marking it as the old verison when I eventually release the new and revamped version. I can’t quite reveal what I have in store right now, but it will offer more than the original game– that’s for sure.

Also, no, I’m not sorry.

In the mean time, if this is your first time hearing about DEETS, why not give it a try? I would love all of the feedback! This is my first time releasing a fully-fledged "horror-game" on here so hopefully I can improve on it.

¹ - Although he originally provided help for the code, he brainwashed me enough by making me invest in the horse state market.

² - I personally don’t see it, but maybe horses ARE that attractive.
