Game
Project Torment

This is my first devlog and it's just explaining/going over what progress I've made so far.

So, I was heavily inspired by Doom (1993), CULTIC, and Painkiller (2004). This game is somewhat a combination of Doom (1993) and Painkiller (2004).

As of the writing of this, all I've made is the first weapon in the game. This weapon is called The Butcher and is inspired by the Painkiller weapon from the game of the same name. It has blades on the front that spin up similar to a blender. It also has an underbarrel attachment, but I'm not sure what that will do yet, or if it will even be in the published version of the game.

The animations I had made for it in Blender didn't transfer to Unreal Engine 4, so I had to remake at least the blades spinning when I transferred it over. While that was somewhat of a pain, I do think it looks better overall than what Blender did.

Since I am basically building this from scratch, I needed to get movement and such down. So far, I can move in every direction, but the camera doesn't move. I had stopped working on the game for a while after I figured out the basic WASD movement. I didn't even get to camera movement in the development in the game.

I just realized I didn't even say the important part. The working title is Project Torment, I'm not sure if that will be the final name or not and I'm open to feedback on that front.

Anyway, my next goal is getting camera movement nailed down. I don't think it will be too bad of a process, just learning things I probably should've looked into before starting.

I hope to see people sticking around the project and keeping up with what I do as it develops over the next however long it takes!

A look at the newest additions to Project Torment. Just two simple movement mechanics, but they took about a full day to implement properly. More on that in dev log 2, on YouTube soon-ish.

Oh hey, a gif of me "playing" Project Torment!

Hello everyone! It's been quite a while since I last posted anything here, so I thought I'd give an update. As seen in the attached image, I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077.

I've decided to mod the game. The image shown features a custom tattoo I made.

Here's the animation for The Butcher when it was in Blender, it's slightly different now that it's solely animated in Unreal Engine. I love how it came out and I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out in game.

I completely forgot that I wanted to make a post asking for opinions. So, I've started my game in UE4 but UE5 has come out since then. The core idea is the same (retro FPS), but I don't know if moving to UE5 is worthwhile. Thoughts?

Happy dance!

Eternity's Requiem's demo level is coming along well! It has a "room" now and the beginning of the lighting. I hope to release the demo level sometime early September. Stay tuned for that!
