Working on RAY's feels like a constant uphill battle, and most of the time, it’s one I feel like I’m losing. Every model I create looks decent at first, but the longer I stare at it, the more the flaws become impossible to ignore, like they’re screaming at me to give up. I pour hours into trying to fix them, tweaking little details over and over, but it always feels like the more I fix, the more I break. The mechanics are a nightmare in their own right—no matter how much time I spend troubleshooting, something always goes wrong or doesn’t work the way I imagined it would. I’ve invested so much time and energy into this game, yet it constantly feels like I’m treading water, barely making any progress. It’s disheartening because I wanted RAY's to be something I could be proud of, a project that showed off my skills and creativity, but instead, it’s become a reminder of my limitations, an endless to-do list of things that aren’t good enough. I know deep down that RAY's might end up being a favorite for a lot of people when it’s finally finished—maybe even a game they’ll really connect with and enjoy—but for me, it’s by far the least favorite game I’ve ever worked on. Realism is such a massive deal in games these days, and trying to keep up with those expectations is draining in ways I didn’t expect.
I’m completely aware that my models aren’t trash, and my skills aren’t terrible either. I know I’ve come a long way and that there’s value in what I’ve created, but I can also see all the room I have for improvement. That’s what eats at me the most—knowing that what I’ve made isn’t bad, but it’s still not quite where I want it to be. For example, games like JR’s or Fazbear Facility have graphics that are close to what I’m striving for, but they’re not the same. The level of detail they achieve is something I admire, and I feel like RAY's could stand alongside them, but somehow it still feels like it falls short of that polish and atmosphere. And then there’s the perplexing part—despite how great my work truly is, I’m still stuck at 214 followers on my account and just 92 followers on the game page. It doesn’t make sense to me. I see other projects gaining traction, sometimes with less effort or quality, and I can’t help but feel frustrated and confused about why RAY's isn’t gaining the recognition it deserves. It makes me question everything, even though I know deep down that what I’ve created is worth more than those numbers show.
RAY's has been in development for over a year and a half, and if you’ve followed the journey, you can tell how much my characters and ideas have evolved since the beginning. I’m proud of the real ones who haven’t abandoned me, who still believe in what I’m doing and stick around no matter what. But I really wish those followers could help promote the game and get it out there, to maybe one day stand alongside the big guys. Right now, though, it feels like I’m developing this game for nobody. Don’t get me wrong—I love the process, and working on RAY's is fun. I enjoy the creativity, the challenges, and watching it all come together piece by piece. But at the end of the day, if there’s nobody to play it, what’s the point? That thought haunts me sometimes, making me question why I keep going, even though deep down, I know I’ll see it through no matter what.
As for the new year, my resolution for RAY's is to focus on making it the best version of itself it can be, while also putting more effort into connecting with people who might love it as much as I do. I want to improve my skills, refine my models, and create an experience that truly stands out. At the same time, I want to find ways to promote the game more effectively and build a bigger, more engaged community around it. Whether that means sharing more behind-the-scenes content, collaborating with others, or just being more consistent with updates, I’m determined to put RAY's on the map and make it something truly special in the coming year.
All things aside, RAY's development is going very well, and I’m excited about how far it’s come. I do hope to release it sometime between 2025 and 2026. Have a good New Year’s, and I hope you all crush your resolutions too. Always remember, stay blessed, and God is good.
