I'm glad you asked, I think it would be cool if they could be broken, so you have to manage the use of them.

Since you will be able to get a job with Lai in next Alpha 3.1.0, you can change jobs at any time, just be aware that your bond with the NPC you have been working for will be reset.

But don't worry, it will reset to the last event you encountered.
