Upcoming Updates, Fixes n' stuff, OSX Port, New Gamemodes, Robot's Ai, Advice...


The jam week is soon over, and it’s soon time to post a new version of “CHESS Tic-Tac-Toe, in SPACE! “

I’ve heard, and seen for myself, several complaints about how the game runs:

  • It’s unplayable if you download it from the Game Jolt Client, because the game crashes after 1-2 minutes, or as for me, it somehow does that when I place my piece on the middle-bottom section of the board while several other pieces have been spawned(does anyone encounter the same problem?).

  • When you start the game, there should be a “fade up from black” effect. INSTEAD IT CUTS TO THE MAIN GAME… God damn it.(Totally ruins the experience imo)

  • Players have encountered general choppy framerates and so on.

All these problems(except the first one) can be fixed by yourself if you run it with other graphical settings/GPU. When you try to open the game, right click on the program file, —> Run with graphical processor and don’t choose standard options if you have something else. If you have ex. Nividia GeForce(as I have), the game will run smoothly.
This is the solution for the problems for now. But I will turn down for the graphical settings in the main game, so others can play the game as well. I haven’t tested it yet, but I hope it works… If not, then GOD HELP US!.. (I’m currently an atheist btw)

Now to the actual “new stuff”, kinda. By that I mean adding to things that actually work.

  • There will be a OSX port. Which should be the most obvious version to make, cuz’ I’m making the game on a iMac. But since it was 2am(In my country) when I wanted to port it, I just saved some time by only porting it to PC’s. Then I could go to sleep…
    ( =_=)zzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz….

  • As you may have noticed the Robot’s(Z8-PO) Ai is based off random numbers. It’s thereby clumsy with its tactics and wins by pure coincidence. This will of course be changed and the game’s difficulty will probably increase. Scripting is however not my best side, so this may take some time. <:-)

  • Another thing I’m gonna work on is a 2 player mode. It won’t be online but with a splittscreen.

  • I will add more to the “space garbage”

  • I got an idea for a new gamemode/challenge to the game, but don’t know if it will be totally unfair for the player. This may give me a chance of building more to the story ;-) *wink We’ll all see…

I think I will start by making a build that fixes the problems and afterwards add all the things I’ve listed. At least you won’t have to wait too long for the game to run properly(at least I hope that’s the case).
