Update 7 (the christmas update) is out!

Hi guys!

I just released the new update after working on it for so long!

This is a very huge update, so there’s a lot to explain.

First off, here’s the changelog:

  • Redesigned the menu for multiplayer.

  • Added player vs player battles! I will explain how they work later on in this devlog.

  • Added new commands (which I will also explain later on)!

    • /pvp on!

    • /pvp off!

    • /pvp enable!

    • /pvp disable!

  • Fixed a minor graphical glitch when opening up the in-game menu!

  • Added snowdin town to multiplayer (for christmas only)!

  • Made the aimer when attacking in a battle go faster!

  • Added text to explain the use of CELL in multiplayer.

  • Added a new menu with new options.

  • You can now check other players’ stats with said new options!

  • Added a debug screen. If you ever encounter a bug, try and take a screenshot of it and send it to me! It’ll help when I try to fix the bug.

  • Added a command list so you can see the commands currently available in the game!

  • Added the potion item.

Now, I should probably explain how PvP works.

You’re able to let others know you want to fight by typing in the command /pvp on. This will put a speech bubble above your head that says PVP. If someone wants to battle you, they just have to walk into you and the battle begins! (You can also type in /pvp off if you decide you don’t want to have a pvp battle or you want to move elsewhere.)

Please note, however, you can’t activate pvp in certain areas, such as on top of spawn points or in small rooms. Also, if you want to disable pvp battles, you can just type in the command /pvp disable so that even when you touch someone who wants a pvp battle, nothing will happen. If you want to reenable it, just type in the command /pvp enable.

Anyway, when the battle begins, the player who wanted the pvp battle in the first place will get to attack first. In PvP, you can’t ACT or use ITEMs. You can only fight or flee!

When you select FIGHT, you get to select one of a set of four attacks to give the other player. Each skin in the game has their own set of four attacks to choose from! So yes, your skin you have on DOES matter!

However, before you start spamming the most powerful attack you have, be warned! You have something called ATP, or attack points. You have to spend these attack points to use an attack! Powerful attacks cost a lot more ATP than slightly weaker attacks. By default, you have a maximum of 15 ATP to spend. However, you can buy potions from one of the shops for 500G which increases your max ATP by 5.

Anyway, after you select your attack, you get to see the other player’s SOUL move and you can tell when they get hit or not. However, you can’t see the attack itself, just their SOUL!

When the attack is over, you have to wait for the other player to select their attack! Then you have to dodge the attack they send. Depending on how well you dodge their attack, you earn a maximum of 2 ATP.

The cycle repeats until someone dies or someone runs out of ATP! Try to pay attention to how much ATP you spend, or else you’ll be forced to FLEE and admit defeat!

And yeah, that’s pretty much how pvp works! Have fun battling others and trying to win as many battles as you can! In the future I plan to add an online leaderboard so you can see who has the most PvP wins!

Well, it’s 2 AM for me, I’ve been working on this update all day AGAIN! Jesus, I never rest xD

I hope you all have a merry christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate and I’ll see you all next time! Don’t expect me to be on GameJolt for a bit, I’m taking a break for the rest of the year!

Probably.

Have a nice day everyone! Bye for now!
