LCN is finally out! The full game! All 40 characters!

The first version of the game came out on Christmas 2022! And now it's finally complete!

FULL CHANGELOG

New Features

  • Added Young Sheldon:

    • "He will be deep in thought in Cam 4, admiring the beauty of a hypothetical number. When he appears in your office, you must select the corresponding number by pressing the key he tells you is assigned to it. Otherwise, he will punish you..."

  • Added Jason Mendoza:

    • "Sometimes, he will yell 'Oh dip!' and proceed to throw a molotov around one of the corners of the screen! You must quickly disarm the molotov by clicking on it, or it will blow up and drastically increase the temperature."

  • Added Abed Nadir:

    • "He will direct the night by giving you certain permanent handicaps, which you can pick with the Z, X and C keys in your keyboard. You can also press V to enable the fourth challenge, which doesn't do anything, but if you use it for too long, you will die."

  • Added Stewie Griffin:

    • "Oh boy. So, at some points during the night he will say a number out loud, and you're really gonna want to punch that number into your keyboard. If you don't, he will create a Stewie Shield around you, stopping you from doing anything!"

  • Added King Orange & Monokuma:

    • "King Orange will change the temperature of the building to a random value, while also creating a shield around your thermostat, locking it so you can't change it yourself. You will need to hire Monokuma for a certain amount of Sun to execute him."

  • You now unlock the Secret Characters as toggleable enemies after beating the max mode!

  • Added Aggressive Secret Characters:

    • "Hellish 'Huh?' Dog: Scorched Earth. He will be burning indefinitely, which means he is much harder to see through while he's there, and also the sound the flames make by burning him alive is pretty loud, which could distract you. Scorched Earth."

    • "GD Auto: It will now give you a limited amount of time to click on it, and will kill you if you don't!"

    • "DDLC.exe: All four characters will manifest as files, making it so you have to delete the file in the Master Folder four times, then a fifth one to delete DDLC.exe itself. Also, Monika will fade in twice as fast."

    • "Monster Energy Drink Stewie: DUE TO THE ENERGY FROM THE MONSTER ENERGY DRINK, HE WILL APPEAR TWICE AS OFTEN DURING THE NIGHT, AND IF YOU MAKE A SINGLE TEENY TINY MISTAKE LIKE INPUTTING THE WRONG NUMBER, HE WILL EXTERMINATE YOU!"

  • You can now see the amount of Standard or Secret Characters that are enabled next to the category name in the menu, plus how many are set to Aggressive.

  • Added Win Screen characters:

    • Characters you had active in the night will now appear in the Win Screen when you beat it!

  • The Settings now have a second page, with more settings...

  • Updated the trophies, and they now appear as ITEMs!

  • Added keybinds for Character Types

Balance/Significant Changes

  • Rebalanced Skull:

    • He is now faster, but starts out a bit further behind!

  • Made the Tutorial way faster:

    • The dialogue now progresses faster, and you can hold LMB/Enter to make it even faster!

  • Updated Frogger's mugshot:

    • Typer Shark's there now!

Bug Fixes and Misc.

  • Random now overrides Random Aggressive

  • Fixed softlock if you clicked on the Vent Trap button too fast during the Tutorial

  • Changed criteria for unlocking Secret Character descriptions in the menu

  • Adjusted Spamton NEO's mugshot & description

  • Tweaked Freddy Frostbear's description

  • Aggressive Roingus now has a unique name!!

  • Fixed Aggressive Joey description typo.................................

  • You now need to hold 'D' instead of just pressing it to disable the Leftory Vine Boom easter egg...

  • Clicking on the button that removes Modifiers at the cost of Sun will now play an error sound if you don't have enough Sun to use it.

  • The Crossbones Comic Book Cover collectible is no longer called a "Page"

  • Left Door usage icon is now flipped

  • Fixed Aggressive Theft King just not working! (broken since 0.7.0)

  • Fixed Toggle Aggressive just NOT WORKING!!! (broken since 0.8.0)

  • Layering fixes

  • Minor bug fixes and misc. changes!

Easter Eggs

  • Added "73" easter egg

  • Added "Just Monika" easter egg

  • Added "Chip" easter egg

  • Added "About" easter egg


Fear Not The Long Road - Parting Words

...

... So I guess that's it. LCN is done. Everything is complete. Probably just a few minor patches a few days from now, and... that's that.

As I said at the beginning of this post, Leftory Custom Night started in December 2022. I think I got the idea on December 23rd, and immediately started making the game. I rushed it and released it two days later on December 25th, 2022. The first version had 20 characters and was... not good. Basically everything was broken, buggy and awfully designed. Not sure what I expected from a two-day project...

... but from that failure, LCN was born. I built up the game that we have today from that prototype, made almost two years ago at this point.

...

It wasn't just me though.

A lot of people contributed to Leftory Custom Night over the years (... you know, the... 2... years), giving ideas for the game, testing it, spreading it across the Internet. I couldn't be more thankful for everyone who's contributed to this game, you've all created a wonderful experience. LCN is awesome.

I actually asked two very important people (related to LCN's history) if they wanted to say anything for this portion of the post:

"Fear Not The Long Road"... that sentiment really applies here, don't you think? This was a... really long road. I didn't know if I was going to make it from the start. I don't think I really knew what LCN was going to become when it started. I knew it was going to have 40 characters, but I didn't have everything planned out. I didn't Fear The Long Road, and that led me here. I finally completed the game. This is the end of the road.

So... I don't know. What I mean is... I don't know what comes next after this. I started being a game developer in late 2021. I hopped from project to project (which I never finished, except for... TCaMC, I guess) until I started LCN. From Christmas 2022 up until today, that has been my main project. What I looked forward to.

Basically, I've looked forward to this day since LCN began. Today is the end. Everything's done, over. That's it! LCN is no longer my main project... so... this era of my life is finally over.

I don't know what comes next after this. But if it's half as good as this, I'll be happy.

So I guess... It's the end.
