We're starting out simply, but this is a big step for us, and hopefully an awesome surprise for you; group chats are finally here!


Let the gif parties begin!​

It's been a long time in the making, but we are so incredibly excited to finally launch the humble beginnings of our new group chat feature for you all! In a time when social interactions have become limited, we think it's more important than ever to be able to allow our community to share epic moments together in group settings. We're also hoping this will be of great use for those participating in group projects.

Tell us how it works!

The process is simple! All you have to do to get started is open a chat with a friend as you normally would, then click the new "Create Group Chat" button that will then allow you to add up to eight more friends into your newly created group chat.

The various group chats you create—and are invited to—will appear in the chat sidebar, along with your friend chats.

Any specifics we should know?

Yes there are. As we said, these are humble beginnings; in other words, we are starting out with a good foundation to build upon as time goes on. As such, there are some current limitations and functionalities we would like to outline before you dive into our latest creation.

  • Group chats currently support a maximum of 10 users each.

  • Anyone in a group chat can add friends into the group by clicking the provided "Add Friend" button.

  • While each participating user is only able to invite friends from their individual friends list, not everyone in a group chat has to be mutual friends.

  • You can leave a group chat at any time.

  • There is currently no way to kick a user from a group chat, but this is a planned feature to be added some time in the future.

Well dang, Game Jolt actually did it!

We sure did! Here's hoping you all enjoy our current iteration of this much-desired feature and will look forward to the improvements still to come, both with group chats and other aspects of our site!
