CORE ROOM is staying. Absolutely. We’re not just keeping it, we’re giving it more purpose in the story, deeper gameplay meaning, and an expanded presence overall.
But we are rebuilding everything from the ground up. Fresh code, cleaner design, and no more duct tape holding it together like before.
Now onto Zornor, the rights, and Aerie Gaming Studios.
Zornor was the lead developer of SCP: Unity and the head of Aerie Gaming Studios, the original team behind the project. Aerie was essentially the dev team he led during Unity’s original development.
But the key detail here is this: SCP: Unity, like all SCP content, falls under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license. That means nobody owns it outright. Not Zornor, not Aerie, not even us.
As long as we credit properly, follow the license terms, and release our work under the same license, we’re good to go.
We don’t have access to Aerie’s original files. We are not using their rooms, code, music, or sounds. Some models have been recovered through public archives and old Reddit threads, but if we’re unsure about the origin, we leave it out.
Also, our soundtrack is completely original. We’ve got a new composer on board, creating fresh, eerie music just for this reboot.
We are not the original team. But we’re passionate developers and SCP fans who want to finish what others started.
Think of this as SCP: Unity Reclassified. Same heart, new hands.
And yes, we know you deserve a full dev blog or video breaking all of this down. That’s in the works.
For now, we’re deep into development with coffee in hand and containment breaches at every corner.
Thanks again for sticking with us. We’ve got a long road ahead, but we’re not backing down.
