Why being tall is painful

There are many people who are embarrassed by the fact that they think they're short, but I envy those people. At 16, I'm 2 meters tall (6' 6.7"), and because of this, I have a lot of inconveniences that I want to share, which aren't often talked about. Most of these problems have been with me for a long time, while others have developed relatively recently. Perhaps this will help someone else worry less about themselves?

First of all, my back constantly hurts. It's especially noticeable when I stand still for long periods of time, which has made such moments torture my whole life. (And yes, I have scoliosis. It's not particularly noticeable to me, but I have a slight curvature of the vertebrae, and when I sit, my neck droops just below my shoulders.) Sometimes it can happen when I'm sitting, because many tables are too low for me, and I slouch when I just want to sit down and relax (or at least try to).

And anyway, when a person sits or stands in one place, they get numb. My limbs, which also feel very uncomfortable, but I can fix that by stretching them out, right? Well, it's not everywhere either, because, as I said, the desks are low, and my feet hit the front of the desk, which is even lower (who came up with that idea, and why the hell?). The same thing happens if I sit on the bus for a long time.

The only solution to both of these problems is to come home and stretch out on my bed, even though it's long at home and I can bend over in all sorts of positions until the pain subsides. But there's a catch, too, because when I go visiting, the bed either hits the wall, or my feet hang off it.

And finally, I'll add that I've banged my head on doorframes more than once, on the ceiling a few times, and once on a friend's chandelier, which ultimately ended... as bad as it could have been, to put it simply. Or that unpleasant feeling when you walk past I'm hanging under flags at some event and I have to duck because they're almost level with me and brush against the top of my head, and sometimes my hair can even get caught on one of them.

But why does someone like me have to deal with this? The thing is, there's a standard for everything, and everything is tailored to the average person, of course, taking into account various margins of error, but not as large as in my case. And I assume that those average people were much shorter 40-50 years ago, since ceilings are sometimes really low not only for me but also for shorter people.

And a few more fun facts for last:

* I don't know if this applies to any of you. If so, please let me know in the comments, I'd be interested to know, but I've noticed the following oddity in my circle: those born in 2008 are micro-sized, while those born in 2009 (likely referring to I'm mostly two-meter-tall guys, and those born in 2010 and later are average-sized. I don't know why, and among my friends who were born in the same year, there aren't many who are taller than me and experience the same problems.

* Also, for some reason, there's this idea in society that being tall is some special trait for guys to be proud of, and the usual justification is, "Girls like those." Jesus Christ, what difference does this make to me? I don't care! I'm the kind of person who attracts anyone primarily through my character and creativity, and there are plenty of people like that around. I usually don't share anything from my everyday life online, preferring to express myself primarily through creativity: drawing, game development, or videos. If anyone's interested, it's cool, you can watch more of my work and we can discuss it in the comments. But in any case, many of you don't even know me by sight, let alone my personal problems, which you've already heard about. We might never have found out if I hadn't mentioned them briefly in posts like this.

So what can I say in the end? Anyone who's obsessed with their height shouldn't be. And in general, there's no need to be embarrassed about anything; be yourself first and foremost, and if you have friends who can help you with anything, then everything is fine and that's quite enough. As for us, two-meter-tall guys, we just have to adapt to the environment and try to somehow solve our problems when possible. I've written one such method myself.

And in general, I want to reiterate to everyone that anyone can find a solution to difficulties, and if you truly want to solve them, you will:

* Is your bed too short to stretch out on? Sprawl out on the floor!

* Sick of modern music? Start listening to rock! (Bands I can recommend: AC/DC, Nirvana, Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Nazareth, Daft Punk, Scorpions, Queen, Kino, Perkele)

* Tired of waiting for a new game? Try making your own! (The same goes for movies/TV series; go make something based on them with friends or something completely your own.)

* Nothing to eat? Eat some nails and polish it off with vodka!

* No money? Go survive in the taiga! (You might meet Egor Letov there)

I know that the last examples are absurd, but in any case it shows that if a person is resourceful and wants to change the situation, he will be ready to do anything.

Anyways, guys, the problems are at least partially solvable. Again, maybe this will help someone; that's always been my main goal anyway. Also, if you've encountered any of the things I described, please let me know in the comments or anything else. See you next time!

Hey, guys!

Today I'd like to announce a new addition to the team, and in fact, the creation of a team of sorts, as I've been doing everything solo before.

The Amazing World Of Gumball moment. This was fun to draw, unless I remember incorrectly. What does that even mean..
