this is a review, it might take you 5 - 15 mins to read.
I only did 2 and a half hours on the second day at first and I got off, but I was so close to B rank that I had to do that before I finished the game. so I did.
this game is fantastic!
I think it controls great and it looks good. it's probably my favorite racing game now! if only it was fully out...
you have to get used to the controls, but that's like every game you have to get used to it. people who try to play and compare it to Mario Kart is dumb... i hate when people compare things... at least I'm not the one reviewing the game after the first day and a few hours of gameplay without knowing about the game more... I played 7 hours in 2 days of gameplay. the third day my brother played it. he played 4 hours.
the online was pretty accurate with some miss ups, but it ran better then Team Sonic Racings online and was more accurate them Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's online. it looked like the other players were in their accurate place when you hit them with an item. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's online made it look like you hit them, but didn't actually hit them... they just did the hit animation... so it was pretty good, just some connection issues, but it didn't happen that often.
I like the gadgets, it makes things much more interesting. you can combine different gadgets to make every race different.
you can put stickers and customize your car to make it look unique and that's cool. you can color a lot of the car with 9 different things to color and you can change the glow of the car. you can also change the textures. you can also color the stickers, but I didn't care about the stickers really...
the announcer sounds like the F-Zero announcer, which is funny. "Final lap!"
the music sounded like they liked the terrestrialize music from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's gym battles...
so the controls, make sure to use the brake if you are hitting the walls a lot when drifting and when in boat mode. you can't drift in boat mode, but you can jump instead. when in boat mode, you are more slippery, so use the jump to correct your turning. when in plane mode, make sure to only drift if needed. unlike drifting in a car, you can drift up, down, left, and right in plane mode, well in car mode it's only left and right, so keep that in mind when drifting in plane mode. if you ever just want to turn more, then drift, don't just use it all the time, like use it when you're turning and it's going towards a wall, drifting in plane mode is just like using the brake in the car and boat, but drifting and not slowing down, it helps you turn quicker, you can use the brake if you want. don't drift for too long or you'll over correct the turning and go to the opposite side. this game can be very chaotic, so try to pay attention. I like that it's more chaotic because it makes things more interesting. the 3rd lap is the most chaotic because a lot of stuff get added to the 3rd lap to make things more interesting. more rings appear, double item boxes appear more often, and the track changes a little from the first lap. the second lap you go into a portal and go to an entirely new course, the 2nd lap changes into different courses and is different every race, making every race different. you can also do tricks in the air, just wiggle the left stick, you can't fail them. doing air tricks can move you, so if you feel like your going to go off course, use the tricks in the direction to go back in course. there is something called trick assist, but I'm not sure what that does. I feel like the ability to fail tricks hasn't been implemented yet.
the problems with the game, when you get hit, you can't use your item or drift for a few seconds, I just want to drift or use an item but I can't, it's annoying... a few times there was a connection error, but it wasn't that much of a problem to me. it mostly only happened when the game is matching you with other people, and sometimes before the race started. the air tricks don't move you that much like other Sonic racing games, making it harder to correct your course. I think it should move more, but only when you press the drift button in the air, making it so if you want to move more in the air and just do tricks without moving if you want to, or maybe you can do tricks with the right stick and move in the air with the left stick. sometimes the other players disappear and appear in front of you when crossing worlds, but it's not really much of a problem. stickers cost too much tickets and you can't put stickers over other stickers. there is a honk when you press the left stick button, but you can only use it in the lobby and not in the race. the main theme was already getting annoying... you hear it so much... you hear it in the menu and when you use the monster truck ability... I wish the game had the time when we finished the race, so we can see how close we were together. they are still using the same stock images for all the characters... it's been a long time, why don't they make new ones...? it's not that much of a problem though. all I care about is how the gameplay feels.
the problems with this one persons review (not going to say who), they said that the other players move in 2 frames per second, the frame rate stutters when crossing roads, and they couldn't hear the music, but I didn't have those problems at all... my brother can hear the music fine too... they also said the game was too chaotic and having two item slots is too much, but Mario Kart always had a way to have two item slots since Mario kart 64 to now... so what's the deal then...? Mario kart didn't exactly have 2 item slots until I think Mario Kart Tour, but in older games you can hold an item on your back and get another item, having 2 items at the same time, well except Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U. the person who reviewed it only played it the first day and probably just a few hours, so they didn't get used to the controls yet and just reviewed the game too early, making it look like the game is bad... you will almost never see me mad, but nothing makes me so mad then someone not giving the time to understand something and just say things that aren't true...
I played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe recently, and I would have to say I like Sonic Racing CrossWorlds more then that game! it's not my favorite Mario Kart anyways... I'm not sure how the next Mario Kart game will be, but I feel like I would like the Sonic one better.
with the next Mario Kart on the new Nintendo Switch 2 coming out at some point, I feel like Sonic CrossWorlds might do better. I mean you might have to buy an entirely brand new console, and the game will most likely gonna be full priced or a little more when it comes out, Sonic CrossWorlds most likely will be less. to me I think the not main line games should be less, and Sonic knows that. also Sonic CrossWorlds is on all latest consoles and will be cross platform!
of course when I ever do get the next Switch, I will be buying the next Mario Kart (whatever) too, but I am more excited to play Sonic Racing CrossWorlds a lot more! but there's nothing we know about the next Mario Kart though, so I don't know how much will that that change... but I feel like I'd be more excited for Sonic anyways...
the first day before I started playing CrossWorlds was messed up... first my Internet turned off, making me think I won't be able to play CrossWorlds, making me feel worried... it turned back on a little bit later... funny prank Internet... funny... mh... then my package said it was in the mailbox, but it wasn't there, making me feel like someone stole it, making me feel bad that I didn't play CrossWorlds the first hour... but it turns out that my dad accidentally sent it to my grandpa's house instead of our house instead... I felt better, but not all there, and then I played CrossWorlds... my brother was rushing me to play it but I was taking too long to read the instructions and he left the room... I can't do anything with anyone anymore... it wasn't split screen, just one person online, so it didn't matter anyways... you can't play with friends either or set up a lobby, but it's not like I have anyone to play with anyways... when I finished playing the first day, I wanted to play more but I knew I should just get off because it was getting late...
for the people who actually read all this and not just liked it for no reason, is there something that you want to say that I haven't said or forgot? I hope I didn't forget anything...
