I've heard that americans don't celebrate Carnival, so I should probably explain it quickly:
A lot of people in costumes (like Halloween, but not scary) walk/drive in a "train" of waggons and throw (traditionally) candy at the crowd (who also wear costumes) and give roses to the ladies. Kids get a ton of candy and adults a lot of booze, so everyone is happy xd
