I've now tried an Alpha version (specifically Alpha 1.1.2_01, the last version with the neon lime grass, and before biomes were added).
Performance was better, the game had less FPS drops, but it was still playable.
Finally reached the max level!

I tried out PojavLauncher (Minecraft Java on mobile).
However I'm getting lag and low FPS, which must be because my phone isn't powerful. I was trying Beta 1.7.3, the beta version that many people play.
I made it. too easy.
