Roses are red
Violets are blue
Back in a day...
Checking the comments are saying this game is bad
I think the thing about there being a good and bad ending is false, as I've collected all the plushies before night 5 and still got the quote on quote "bad ending". I think the "good ending" is really just for anyone replying night 5 so they don't have to sit through the cutscene again.
isn't this a re-uploaded game? is it because it's been taken down or something?
not scary at all >:c
A Shadow Over Freddy's
A Shadow Over Freddy's (incorrectly stylized as A Shadow over Freddy's in-game) is an indie point-and-click fangame developed by Phisnom, inspired by Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. Taking inspiration from Scott Cawthon's first game, Phisnom twists the inspired experience into a shrouded, eerie environment while animatronics make an attempt to catch the player off-guard in the shadows.
Working with the concept of A Shadow Over Freddy's, which he states to be a a mere random idea that came to him[2], he began working on the game without any teasers and kept the development process silent. The announcement of the game was made on Reddit, only a day before the release date, two months after it began development.[3]
The premise of the game revolves around William Afton being stuck in an eternal purgatory, similar to Ultimate Custom Night. However, unlike Scott's game, The Puppet is portrayed as a vengeful spirit who facilitates the Missing Children in their pursuit of Afton. During the five nights the game takes place in, Afton is given chance to repent and regret his past actions. The game features both a True and Bad Ending, which depend on the choices made by the player during gameplay.

Synopsis
After capturing William Afton's rotten corpse from Freddy Fazbear's Horror Attraction, The Puppet imprisons him in a never-ending nightmare that takes place in a deserted version of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Afton must complete various tasks to outsmart the animatronics and survive while The Puppet tempts him with tales of his morbid fascination with death. Failing to express remorse for his misdeeds leads to the bad ending. However, collecting four plushies distributed throughout the pizzeria during the initial four nights and then gathering five more on the fifth night leads to Afton allowing access to the Safe Room to get the final plushie using the Golden Freddy plush pieces acquired the previous night. Collecting all the plushies while also displaying repentance for Afton's wrongdoing unlocks the Good Ending.
Gameplay
A Shadow over Freddy's
Freddy's jumpscare.
To beat the game, the player must survive five consecutive nights, each with its unique challenge to overcome. Each of these nights starts with the player in a secure location where they receive crucial survival tips and information. Once they venture out of this safe space, their main objective is revealed. They must navigate through various rooms, avoiding deadly encounters with the animatronics. Failure to do so will result in their demise.
Freddy: Freddy will jumpscare the player at the moment the timer hits 6 AM, however he may be sporadically make an appearance in the same room as the player, but in the form of a Shadow. If the Shadow is not frightened off, Freddy will launch an attack when the player moves to another room. To prevent this from happening, the player must quickly frighten the Shadow by aiming their flashlight at it whenever it appears.
Bonnie: Bonnie is programmed to never share the same room as the player, except for the moment when he launches an attack. To prevent an attack, the player should right-click on their chosen path before moving, which allows them to listen for any sounds associated with Bonnie's breathing. If they hear breathing, it indicates that Bonnie is located in the room of the selected path. Then, the player must either choose an alternate path or wait until the breathing fades away before proceeding.
Chica: Chica functions the exact same as Bonnie, however Chica is harder to detect while listening through the forward room, which could be done by right-clicking on their chosen path before moving.
Foxy: Foxy's main location is Pirate's Cove, and he will not leave unless the player neglects to check the curtains regularly. The player must continuously monitor the curtains of Pirate's Cove, just as in the original FNAF game. Otherwise, Foxy will emerge from his hiding spot, chase the player, and deliver a jumpscare. Once Foxy has left Pirate's Cove, there is no known way to return him, and the player must deal with his attacks and take additional precautions.
Upon completing the objective, the protagonist will be engulfed by static on the screen, and the Puppet will emerge from the darkness. The Puppet proceeds to offer fragments of a story to the protagonist. These stories offer a brief yet unsettling backstory of William Afton.
True Ending/Terry Minigame
The "True Ending" trend begins with its inclusion in A Shadow Over Freddy's. This trend would continue to appear in FR3DD-Y2 p1223-R1a and Porkchop's Adventure. To reach ASoF's true ending, the player must alter the games .ini file through %appdata%, open "ashadowoverfreddys" in Notepad, and replace "trueending=0" to "trueending=1". This tweak launches an Atari-style game featuring Terry, a daring turtle who infiltrates a Toy Store and ventures into its basement. However, once Terry reaches a pitch-black void, a human hand grasps for the turtle, while Steven delivers a jump-scare to the player. The game crashes and redirects back to the original A Shadow Over Freddy's menu upon relaunch.
Plot
During the fire at Freddy Fazbear's Horror Attraction, The Puppet captures William Afton's alive corpse from the Springtrap suit and traps him in a never-ending nightmare featuring an abandoned, shadowed-filled version of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Upon waking up in the location, Afton is given 5 nights to survive against Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy while completing tasks which always results in Afton confronting the Puppet, who offers to tell Afton a story.
The stories in question consist the events which lead to William Afton becoming obsessed with the concept of mortality.
Night 1:Â William Afton is introduced, described as a quiet and imaginative child who loved nothing more than playing with his toys. Unfortunately, one day his mischievous dog snatched one of his toys, a Robot, in a bid for attention. Desperate to get it back, Afton grabs the toy from the dog's mouth, but in the scuffle, he accidentally snaps his loyal companion's neck. The family is devastated and buries the dog in the yard.
Night 2:Â William Afton resists sleep as he senses a foreign presence staring at him. After peering out his window, the silhouette of a dog catches his eye. Afton ventures outside and discovers the dog's grave. On top of it sits Afton's robotic toy, frantically shuffling and moving. This implies that the dog's spirit has somehow taken control of the toy.
Night 3:Â William Afton isolates himself from his family and spends his nights studying mortality while keeping a watchful eye on the haunted toys behavior. Frustrated by a lack of answers in books, Afton turns to his father as his next experiment. He kills him and attempts to trap his spirit in a doll. No movement ultimately came from the doll.
Night 4:Â The Puppet recounts a sinister tale of a monster who murdered a young girl standing in front of the window of Fredbear's Family Diner. This monster is ultimately revealed to be William Afton, who used Charlotte in his depraved experiments. After taking her life, Afton callously leaves Charlotte's body at the back of the diner.
Night 5:Â The Puppet presents Afton with a harsh reality check, highlighting his selfish and depraved behavior. In response, Afton displays no signs of remorse, and the Puppet leaves him to rot in the Springtrap suit.
As the player progresses through the five nights, they have the option to collect five plushies, each representing a mascot from the pizzeria. These plushies are scattered throughout the pizzeria, and the player must collect them every night to achieve the Good Ending. However, forgetting even one plush may lead to the Bad Ending, regardless of how many others the player has obtained. On Night 5, the player must enter the Safe Room, which is located behind a locked door in the Restrooms. Using the previously collected Fredbear plush pieces from Night 4, the player can obtain the last plushie. The Puppet appears behind the player, and if they have collected all five plushies, they allow Afton to rest his soul by showing remorse for his past actions. With these actions, the Good Ending sequence is given to the player.

In the lead-up to the game's release, excitement for A Shadow Over Freddy's had been gaining steam amongst fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. This excitement was shared among fellow fan game developers such as Lylly/LSFDevelopment and Nikson, both of whom praised Phisnom's creation before it even launched. Indeed, upon the game's release, it received widespread critical acclaim and quickly became a subject of discussion among fans of the series.
The success of A Shadow Over Freddy's is largely due to Phisnom's ability to take a well-known franchise and put his own spin on it. By exploring new themes and storytelling techniques, the game manages to stand out among a sea of Five Nights at Freddy's fangames and is considered by many fans and content creators as one of the scariest FNaF Fangames. Trivia
Phisnom stumbled upon the idea for A Shadow Over Freddy's while taking a shower[4]. However, after announcing the release, Kane Carter would make a statement regarding the game appearing similar to one of his concepts which was intended for POPGOES Reprinted. Interestingly, both games featured a similar design mechanic where players traverse a dimly lit pizzeria with a 360-degree view, though the approach was different in each case.[5][6]
