What do you think?

ngl this game is lowkey fire and I honestly RPG game so if you like games like undertale then I highly recommend

Hey there, sorry for the long ass wait but a review is here! Two parts!

Overview: Sorry for the long wait to write a full review but a review is finally here. Overall, I thought the game was awesome! It's basically a fun mix between pirates and adventure with unique characters, fun battles, nice soundtrack and tough but manageable boss fights.

Gameplay: The gameplay for this game is like most other traditional rpgs. You just play as a rag tag group of adventurers who go on some random missions to collect an item or to defeat a boss. There’s some cool mechanics like the fishing spots. I also liked how the game has different save points for when you are about to fight a boss – a fair indicator of the challenge that awaits! Occasionally the game throws some light puzzles here and there but they’re nothing too difficult and feel like a nice pace break from the battles.  I enjoyed the support skills - it results in some awesome boss battles and tense moments! And trust me, you’ll need them… I thought the balancing was fine, too. I never really got to a point where I needed to halt to a stop just to grind off enemies too much as the game gives you enough gold to buy enough supplies, as long as you're smart, you'll be fine. I also liked that the battles did get tougher over time. Enjoyed the boss battles too, expect for that metal dog in the final game. I was around level 15 by this time, for reference, and never grinded. But out of all the bosses, this one gave me the most trouble. It was even more difficult than the optional Hans fight (which I did beat by the way!). I was able to defeat it using some TP conserving tactics along with utilizing Darv's support Mortis skill which gives that oh so crucial critical (if you get lucky). Honestly, I felt that this final boss was too much.  It is challenging, yes, but in a frustrating way in my opinion. There are times where it will just one shot party members, which I couldn’t figure out how to counter. You barely do any damage to it than Mortis’ lighting attack every three rounds, the fight lasts a long time, Robin is basically useless during this fight besides the occasional round of healing but even she eventually died, and it has so much health. I think if the boss was shorter and had less health, I wouldn’t really have much a problem with it. It felt like it lasted for too long. One last note before I move onto the next section, I don't like that there's like 12 different guide books that you have to scroll through. It is a bit uncomfortable. It would be more convenient if you’d put the information from each book into a singular book. And if you don't want the player to see all the skills for party members they don't have, then that's simple - all you need is to make separate guides for specific points in the game that reflect what party members the player would have at that point. I imagine that that would reduce the amount of space these guides would take up in the database, which is worth the effort to condense them!

Aesthetic: I liked the charming, simple graphics for the game. It's a nice use of parallax that’s pleasing on the eyes. Character portraits are colorful and express and lead to some funny moments, like when Mortis stares into the player's soul in the final forest area, when Robin gets a blush face. I like it.

Story: Like I said earlier, the story is traditional rpg. The story is simple and mostly focuses on the action. From the opening, I thought there would be more of a pirate theme. There are hints of pirates, with a character here and there, but this one is more of an adventure fantasy story. The main cast is charming enough, they fit the tone of the game and are colorful and varied. They even have a touch of voice acting (although the one that voices Robin should speak up some, heh…)

i just played a bit of the game and it's pretty well made. great sprites, good parallax mapping (rarely seen on gamejolt), and a fun battle system. the game has a nice pirate theme and feels charming to play! another classic. good work!

Where a noble and a sailor cross paths begins a world-spanning adventure of loss and gain, greed and charity, and the eventual fate of the world itself.

Bereaved: Soldiers of Fate is a occasionally wacky, occasionally deadly serious RPG in the world of Hargul, where you control various misfits and scoundrels in an attempt to help people, deal with their own personal demons, and avoid dying a painful death to a menagerie of monsters. From vast forests to dry deserts to desolate fields of ice, engage foes in a battle-system where teamwork between your party members is key. Learn enemy patterns, support each other, and manage your strengths, and you just might make it another day. And when you're not busy fighting, you can explore a wide world, where each nook and cranny contains an interesting personality to chat with.
