Essence of Battle

The world is inhabited by strange creatures that until recently just roamed the planet freely. A team of highly intelligent colleagues found a way to harness their energy. With special cards made of metal, they keep the essence of certain creatures. At first this was just to study them without affecting the wildlife. However, there was a failed experiment that unleashed every bit of harnessed essence that the team captured and it multiplied the wildlife numbers exponentially. Over the years they perfected the cards and use them to keep control of the population. One team member found a way to release the essence in a controlled environment and return it when it was finished being studied. Once 2 cards released essences at the same time the creatures began to fight each other. Once one was defeated its essence returned to the card to recharge apparently. The team eventually turned it into a game and began to battle each other with creatures they captured in the wild. This caught on and everyone around the world got in on the fun. Now you are a teenager who wants to be the best battler in the world after watching your father win a tournament. You were watching it on TV but when he won he was abducted by a group of people in purple uniforms and before the broadcast was cut off they said that they are holding their own tournament and that these televised events are a sham but they won't release the champion until they are defeated in their own tournament. Your best friend witnessed the same events and offers you one of his cards to go on your adventure with. You must explore everywhere you can and ask everyone you can in order to find this secret tournament. You will encounter battle camps and other battlers along the way. Use them to get stronger so you can defeat the abductors and save your father.
