I don't mind playing RPG Maker games but do you have screenshots to show its different to the usual sprites or standard assets?
What is GAC RPG?
Hi, I'm Terwynd, and GAC RPG is a Comedy RPG and a passion project of mine. It's been (slowly) constructed with RPG Maker VX Ace over the course of 4 years, and, recently, I've had a lot more time to work on it than I had in the past, and documenting my progress here on Gamejolt is a way for me to commit myself to working on it. It's based off my personal experiences with a group of friends I regularly interact with, (who have also helped in bringing this game to life, I might add! see bottom for credits) as such, it refers to a lot of instances and occurrences within our long relationship with each other. Don't worry, though, this is not exclusively an in-joke game.
This game takes heavy inspiration from 2 other RPG Maker games, Forum Fantasy (Prelich's Journey to Manhood), and Lisa: the Painful. Both are amazing games, and if you show even a slight interest in what inspired this game, I suggest checking them out.
THE WORLD OF THE GAC
The group known as the GAC was once a thriving community. But passion is lost with time, and so, the GAC effectively disbanded, save for a small group of friends who've thrived in the foundations their past colleagues have built. But some things are never forgotten, not while these foundations still stand, and certainly not when a former member's frustrations have yet to be 'expressed'. He descends on what remains of his old community, aiming to settle an age-old score. You are Jad, the leader of the last remaining GAC members. Defend what's yours.
THE PLAN:
My goal is to get the story, and, by extension, the gameplay, into 4 or 5 'Acts'. Each act will have an overworld, and a healthy supply of locations to traverse within them.
Act 1 = A linear set up to the story that introduces all the main NPCs, and indirectly teaches you the mechanics of the game with a managable cast of 4 party members. All of the game's mechanics will be put in use here.
Act 2 = The story "begins" here. Level design will be more open in contrast to the the first act's linear path, with no 'right way' to play. By the end of this act, all 9 party members will be unlocked.
Act 3 = The meat of the game. By this point, ALL party members will be max level (lvl 40) and have 'top tier' stock gear and will have a taste of side-grade gear.
Act 4 = Ending portion. Gear earned here will be sidegrade focused and the story will start to segment into different paths here depending on how you play.
Act 5 (?) = Linear, "point of no return" style section. Story and gameplay will wildly vary depending on how you've played the game up to this point.
