GeoForge is a fast, hands-on way to learn how elements form minerals and minerals build rocks. Players drag elements into mineral “recipes,” then assemble those minerals into rocks across the three rock families—igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Every choice gives immediate feedback: correct matches fill the formula; optional Reveal and Shuffle tools provide hints at a cost, reinforcing strategic thinking and trade-offs. Short, replayable runs keep the pace brisk while a guided tutorial onboards new learners in minutes.
As a learning tool, GeoForge blends content mastery with light systems thinking. Students see the composition of common minerals, the classification of rocks, and the rock cycle in action—using the same vocabulary they encounter in class. A built-in Run Summary and end game Player Stats track elements applied, minerals and rocks completed (by rock type), EXP earned, and use of assists, plus total time played. That makes growth visible to students and gives teachers quick evidence of practice and progress.
What students practice
Connecting elements → minerals → rocks (composition and structure)
Using correct geology vocabulary in context
Recognizing patterns in mineral formulas and rock classifications
Managing resources and decision-making (assists cost something)
Perseverance via short, retry-friendly runs and clear feedback
Why it fits in class
5–10 minute sessions work for bell-ringers, stations, or homework
Tutorial lowers the barrier for non-gamers
Stats make formative assessment easy (no grading overhead)
Engaging enough for extra practice; focused enough for instruction
GeoForge turns the rock cycle into an interactive puzzle—so students learn by doing, to go along with their memorizing.
