What do you think?

here's a new gamemode idea :

hell

it starts off with the EVIL stage thing and you cant change it back, but boxes can give you rings

sonic.exe is always chasing you but he can be parried by doing an insta-shield

could be really fun constantly trying to run away from him

You know how hard this would go if this had all the levels up to Doomsday Zone? Imagine being chased by this thing through the entire Megadrive era.

This was honestly very well made, love the detail in the spritework fpr the characters, badniks, and level assets! Both soundtracks are bangers and really help set the tone and atmosphere of the game. They both give me CD vibes too which is definitely a plus!

Gotta say the game plays pretty well! The physics are pretty close to classic games, not 1:1 but does a great job mimicking them. Which actually makes me wonder why framework/engine was this made in? It controls really well, parallax scrolling is present, and a lot of the gimmicks and mechanics are ported over nicely too.

Either way this is honestly such a nice continuation and homage to the original An Ordinary Sonic Rom Hack. I was disappointed it was never continued and finished, so seeing it actually come to fruition here is very nice. And I especially love the callbacks to old Sonic rom hacks like Sonic 2 XL, so I cannot wait for the Ring Ride and Omochao modes when they come out!

So this is not only a fangame recreation of an iconic ROM hack complete with different skins and Postman Pat, but it'll have extra modes based on other ROM hacks? From one Sonic ROM hack enthusiast to another, I'm filing a claim to the based department immediately.

I will say X could be a little slower since I feel like his current speed leaves too little room for error.

Btw, if you're taking ideas for X skins, CrazySonic would be hilarious.

Personally as someone with some experience with speed-running Sonic 1 (Completed a single run after learning it) and playing without any gameplay tweaks changed besides turning off roll lock. I only been able to get pass Marble Zone as of now and I have been having a good time as it makes me have to look at the levels in a little bit of a different way than before. I liked having to route the item monitors so I can have just enough time to get through a slow section. Adding the fire shield in Marble only when it's fucked up and evil is also a nice touch as in Act 1 it rewards you for careful planning and good execution which is what I love in Sonic games in general. I hope future updates continue to uphold this as I have had fun in only these two zones but I understand I am probably an outlier lol

Evade Sonic.EXE in warped versions of the original Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) zones. Inspired by "Ordinary Sonic ROM Hack" (2013) by Cinossu.

FYI: This game runs on Linux (including Steam Deck) via Wine flawlessly. There is no Linux executable because then the file wouldn't be called Sonic.exe. Nobody wants to play Sonic.appimage.

My main goal for OSF's development right now is improving the physics. I'm aiming for the next release to have 1:1 accuracy to the original game in terms of controls. The collision system has been majorly reworked to this end.

There have been multiple requests for an Android version of OSF, so I'll bundle an Android version with the next release, although I can't promise that it'll be particularly polished when compared to the main PC version.

Thanks to these guys for the funny video. It's a good showcase of the game's mechanics and some of its current flaws. I'm working on fixing some of the bugs shown here now; those Caterkiller hitboxes are a menace!

There have been a lot of complaints about OSF's difficulty; this will be addressed in the next release. There will be more ways to evade Sonic.EXE, and a remixed set of levels designed with the new mechanics in mind. Stay tuned.

Redesigning the look of Spring Yard ALT, it didn't feel circus-y enough to me.
