Sam Versus Cat is a world renownd series of professional wrestling video games designed entirely in PowerPoint Twenty Ten. Every previous release has only been posted on SlideShare. However, since the number of users on SlideShare has declined so rapidly that it should be illegal, I thought, "Why not give my famous game series a REAL chance to get noticed?" So, I decided it was time to share it with the Game Jolt community. Please do have fun playing!
What's new in version 4.0.2?
The "SVC RingShop" has been added. Players can now download rings for their copies of the game in which their wrestlers, including DLC and fanmade custom characters, also known as "FCC's" can wrestle. To get to the RingShop, click anywhere in
the right half of the "Cat's Laugh Black" screen. If you want to go to the CharShop, use the left half. Please enjoy!
Today, June Fifth Of Twenty Fifteen; I proudly present, "Sam Versus Cat™ 4.0"! It was a long, bumpy road to reach this day.
I still remember when the very first "Sam Versus Cat™" game came out, and back in those days, it didn't even have a trademark symbol in the series' name, because I hadn't yet thought of that idea. As for the gameplay experience, the graphics were so
bad that even the game's title was pixelated, and Cat's character model didn't even fit on the screen, because of the game's formatting having been so terrible. And as if the graphics weren't bad enough, the game was so low tech that it had to use
soundfonts for its title theme instead of actual music!
In "Sam Versus Cat 2.0", the graphics stayed exactly the same, but at least the title theme used a shortened version of the "Sam And Cat" theme song. However, the new theme still didn't really impress, and the graphical aspects of the game remained
untouched from their predecessors.
After quite the long time later, "Sam Versus Cat™ 3.0", notice the trademark symbol this time; came out. Having turned out greater than what even I MYSELF had expected, this title featured a completely new game engine. It had graphics that were loads
better, and it finally used the entire, extended, "Sam And Cat" theme song, lyrics and all. Plus, to boot, the accompanying title text to that new theme song had a clean, smooth, realistic appearance for the first time in "Sam Versus Cat™" history! One of
my personal favourite graphical features of this game was how BOTH Sam AND Cat could fit on the screen, with room for exactly two other characters to stand on the stage if one felt so inclined to add extras. But there were many more visual
improvements, minor though they may have been, such as the more proportionately realistic movements across the screen as the characters attacked each other. What's more though, was how "Sam Versus Cat™ 3.0" set the benchmark for all future
games in the series, by allowing players to go into the game's code, assuming they have the full version of PowerPoint 2007 or later, and use a moderately easy procedure to replace Sam Puckett and Cat Valentine with two characters of their choice.
Then, there was (the not so good) "Sam Versus Cat™ 3.1". Version 3.1 was the "Nintendo DSi of Sam And Cat™ games". For reference, people say that the Nintendo DSi was a half baked Nintendo 3DS; which, in many ways, it was. Anyway, in version 3.1
of "Sam Versus Cat™", kick based moves and official WWE style rules were introduced to the gameplay. However, these new elements were very glitchy upon release, and there were many, many an update required to fix them. One update was made
because a pin fall isn't supposed to count if the referee even starts to say "three"; and it did in the prior release. Another was made because there were certain times when the kick function was disabled where it shouldn't have been. I'm sure I could go on,
but I think you get the idea.
And that brings us to today's release. I'd like to start by saying that there are absolutely no glitches in version 4.0 of "Sam Versus Cat™"; absolutely, NONE. Secondly, the "SVC CharShop is open now, and you can get to there by clicking anywhere on the
black loading screen that comes up just before the title screen; the one where Cat Valentine does her famous, "Uh heh heh heh heh heh heh," laugh.
Finally though, onward to the new features!
There is an entrance screen, whose ring interior can be customized. Currently, the "SVC RingShop is not available yet, but it will hopefully be in the game's first software update.
If Sam knocks out Cat instead of pinning her, then Cat's manager lectures Sam over the ring announcer's loudspeaker for the entire arena to hear.
If Sam wins by pin fall, then she gives a very agressive sounding, but completely nonvulgar, victory speech.
If Cat knocks out Sam instead of pinning her, she shares her victory with the entire United States Of America.
If Cat wins by pin fall, she gives a very inspiring, and yet somewhat hilarious, victory speech; that is, until some crazed fan steals the microphone from her and roots for Sam, after which he is booed off the stage by all of Cat's fans.
If either girl wins a match, either by knock out or pin fall, a special looping edition of her respective TV theme will play in the background until the next attack is executed.
Those are just six of at least ten new features; but I don't want to spoil EVERYTHING, so I'll let you all go ahead and enjoy the game, to find out what the rest, however many there are, happen to be yourselves. Have fun playing!
