Long ago, the ocean was ruled by Neptune, a powerful being worshipped by all who lived beneath the waves. Among his people was Spong, an ordinary creature who lived peacefully alongside countless others. But one day, Neptune betrayed them. For reasons lost to time, Neptune feared something hidden within Spong—something capable of threatening his rule. Rather than risk losing his power, Neptune condemned his own people to an eternal prison known as The Watery Grave. A place without light. A place without hope. A place from which no one could escape. There, thousands suffered. Some starved. Some lost their minds. Others were subjected to cruel experiments. Their bodies were fused with metal and bound by golden chains designed to strip away their freedom and control their every movement. Spong witnessed everything. He watched his friends die. He watched innocent souls suffer. He watched Neptune walk away unpunished. As the years passed, the pain of the imprisoned began to gather within him. Every scream, every death, every act of cruelty became part of something far greater. Something darker. Something called Serpent. Serpent is not merely a transformation. It is the physical manifestation of Spong's grief, rage, and desire for vengeance. When Serpent emerges, golden chains wrap around his body like the strings of a puppet. Many believe they are meant to control him. The truth is far more terrifying. The chains are not restraining Serpent. They are restraining what remains of Spong. As Serpent grows stronger, the line between victim and monster begins to disappear. During the events of the mod, Spong slowly recovers fragments of his shattered memories. With every song, another piece of the truth is revealed. The betrayal. The prison. The suffering. And eventually, the identity of the one responsible. Neptune. By the penultimate battle, Serpent fully awakens and speaks the words that have echoed through his mind for years: "He killed them all." "He tortured them." "He made them suffer." "He drowned them in metal." "He got away with it." "I will kill him." "I will make him suffer." "He will pay." Yet the true question of the story is not whether Serpent will succeed in his revenge. It is whether there will be anything left of Spong when that revenge is finally complete.
