I don't know if you have seen Guns of Icarus online but i would suggest looking at it if you haven't yet. if you have seen it then can you think of a way to improve there repair mechanics to be more engaging.
Become the captain of an airship and find honor in the air.
Start with a small nutshell and work or fight to get a big ship. Command your crew for a better efficiency. Set the focus on one part of the enemy-ship and you can destroy an ability of it.
Discover a random flying island world with many encounter and trade with diffrent islands. Or fight aginst one of your f**r**iends.
