The Alien killer EX.
In E.C. Osondu's collection of short fiction, Alien Stories, the dual use of the word “alien” is explored — to mean both a person living in a country other than the one of their birth and a creature from outer space. The stories often avoid describing extraterrestrial bodies, instead focusing on how humans interact with aliens and how they are perceived by society. In “Alien Enactors”, actors perform world cultures for guests at a resort. In “Visitors”, an extraterrestrial family moves to a small town and the narrator’s wife invites them to dinner despite her husband’s trepidations. In “Feast”, an alien is hanged for killing two people in a small town. The story focuses on the townspeople's reactions to the alien's death and their fear of what he represents. In “The Killer Aliens”, an alien race known as the Krell arrives on Earth with hostile intentions. They have come to take over the planet and enslave its inhabitants. The humans fight back but are no match for the Krell's advanced technology. In desperation, they turn to an unlikely source: a group of criminals who have been imprisoned for their violent crimes against humanity. The criminals agree to help in exchange for freedom and soon become known as "the alien killers".The alien killers use their knowledge of human behavior and criminal tactics to outwit the Krell. They devise clever strategies such as disguising themselves as Krell soldiers or using explosives to destroy their ships. After months of fighting, they finally manage to defeat the Krell and save humanity from enslavement.The story ends with a warning: that even though humanity has won this battle against evil aliens, there may be more battles ahead if we do not learn from our mistakes and work together towards peace. It is a reminder that we must remain vigilant against any threats that may arise from beyond our planet if we wish to protect our home and our way of life.
