Better Rhythm Games (Deltarune Mod)

Ever wanted to play a better version of the Lightners Live mini-game from Deltarune Chapters 3 & 4, but you got tired of playing the same 3 songs over and over again? Well, now you can play with even MORE songs, with an improved GUI, visuals, songs, and so on! And if that somehow doesn't convince you, let it be known that I have implemented non other than Pluey into the game! Now, doesn't that make you just wanna give it a try?

MAJOR UPDATES

• The Pizza Tower album is here! Took me some time to get the new stage working and some of the new visuals working as well, but it was definitely worth it. There aren't any crazy new mechanics in this album, simply because I couldn't think of anything to add (other than the dim light in Tunnely Shimbers but that's more of a visual change not a mechanic).

• Let's talk about It's Pizza Time! and The Death That I Deservioli. Since those songs were a part of the laps in Pizza Tower, I decided to get a little creative with them and do a stage overhaul! It's a fairly simple stage overhaul, but I think it ended up being pretty cool to have Kris (also Susie and Ralsei for The Death That I Deservioli) running away from Pizzaface!

• For Tunnely Shimbers, my good friend Derpy (Pizza Tower connoisseur) told me that I should add dim lighting since the level that Tunnely Shimbers plays in, "Don't Make A Sound," has very dim lighting in it. I decided to borrow some of the code from the Jackenstein fight directly for this song, since I thought it worked perfectly for the idea I was going for! Also, make sure you don't die on this song. If you die, you die in real life.

Let it be known that this is NOT the final version of the mod. There are still so many things I want to fix, change, and add, I can't even begin to describe my plans for the future! I prefer keeping most of my ideas under wraps until the updates come out, but here is a list of various things I want to fix for the upcoming updates:

• Add a button to change the master volume of your game when inside a song (using plus or minus).

• Have the door's speakers play the last song the player was on, continuously playing even after exiting the song selection menu (this will only reset to mute once the player goes back to the rest of the room).

• Add more NPCs to fill the open space within the room (it was funny at first, but honestly it makes more sense if I added more rooms and NPCs to fill up the place).

Of course, the ideas for this mod will only get bigger and bigger as time goes on, with the very ambitious goal of being able to achieve a similar status as other rhythm game engines, like Psych Engine or Kade Engine for Friday Night Funkin'!

Also, something very important to note; Hard mode is NOT recommended for new players! Don't beat yourself up if you are unable to beat hard mode charts, they're very much for players who have already played the normal mode charts several times and have gotten accustomed to the normal mode difficulty. The only difference between normal mode and hard mode is the addition of death notes, nothing else!

CREDITS

Just wanted to say a massive thanks to @Timkho for sharing a lot of bug fix related code, as well as the code for the normal mode vs hard mode chart difference! I have asked for their permission and they allowed me to use their code in this mod :)

@TerraFail has done an amazing job fixing a bunch of the original charts, as well as continuing to make more charts for future songs! Without them, I would still be stuck worrying about chart fixes, when I instead spent my time adding other mechanics into the game!

AI has also been used to help generate the code for this mod. Unfortunately, I'm not a very talented coder. But I am an artist, and to help me bring my ideas to life I've been using these resources to help me focus on the things that I'm actually good at, such as the art, charting, debugging, and pretty much everything else that you see in the mod! But yeah, I still wanted to be 100% transparent about that because I realized it's probably something I should mention.

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD THE MOD?

Please make sure to read the directions in the mod folder. It can be very easy to get stuck on something, especially when you think you know what to do without reading things over. The steps to downloading the mod are pretty self-explanatory, just make sure to read everything carefully, that's all. Enjoy!
