just played through the game and i have to say that it was amazing. a cool demon-slaying adventure set in the age of the old, with our main character, Beo, travelling the world in search of his fiancee, Clarice, and the seven deadly sins) i'll try not to spoil too much in the review for anyone that will be reading this before playing the game, but, yeah) the game is easy to pick up, has a great battle system (with some tough but incredibly fun to fight optional and main story bosses - and there's nothing that i love more that a good fight in a video game, so, props for that, Horror_Kid!), memorable characters (Beo is a pretty relatable protagonist but also a really cool guy, the Spirit of the Whip is a humorous guide that's awesome whenever he appears, and every manifestation of Sin has a personality that acts in accordance to their related sin - that's awesome!), cool locations to explore, historical and literature references (like the Byzantine Empire and the namesake for the main character, Beowulf Bloodborne - for a person that studies history and foreign literature in my university as one of the main subjects it was fucking awesome to see all of the references to actual historical places or the legendary english poem!), and that, overall, performs great!)
there's also a lot of small, but, nevertheless, great details about the game that make the whole experience of playing it all the more worthwhile!) like the Guardian that later becomes the companion and guide to Beo and explains the reasoning behind the Bloodborne family's signature weapon of choice, the main antagonists being themed around the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins is a pretty classical trope that is executed very well in the game, with every sin having its own memorable personality and a tough fight to back up their banter with!) the different enemy encounters (with some being even harder than the bosses - yes, i'm talking about you, goddamn Earth Spirit!) add a lot more to the variety in the game's battle system and are generally a welcome addition) the arctic castle actually having NPC's doing work around it (even if you can't interact with them) is great and helps the immersion a lot) the dialogue between Beo, Spirit of the Whip and Greed before the fight is hilarious and made me laugh out loud while also gaining some respect for the Spirit) and, on a final note, the Mysterious Cave having not one, but TWO tough optional bosses to fight is amazing - especially the second fight with two bosses at once (won't spoil who they are - challenge-seekers like me will have a lot more fun searching for them this way) was very fun while also being very tough - i loved every second of it!
but, alas, there are some bugs with the game right now - none of them are fatal or detrimental to the game's playthrough but there are some outright nasty ones that the players should look out for when playing and that Horror_Kid should take notes of: the Arctic Town Cathedral has a pretty annoying bug - if you enter it you get a message saying something like "Failed to load bgm/" etc-etc - you can close the message box but it will appear again after a few seconds( luckily, you can bypass this bug by reloading the game and NOT going to the Cathedral - not that there's anything interesting to do, anyway... and, finally, there's a softlocking bug in Heraclin's weapon shop - firstly, it doesn't have a merchant in it, which is a bummer, but, worst of all, if you go there you can't exit the shop, essentialy locking poor Beo out of his quest because of the bug!( but, alas, the weapon shop is optional and isn't required to be visited for any missions, fortunately...
all in all, the game was a fun, engaging and thrill-filled experience through anf through. the bosses were fun to fight, the locations were fun to explore and the plot was interesting to see unravel!) after this i think that i'll go play the redux version of the very first game and check it out - i hope that it offers an experience just as good as The Legend Begins, if not better) and as for you, Horror_Kid, thank you for telling me to play The Legend Begins back then - i enjoyed it a lot, as you can see, and thank you for the game itself!) take care!
Travel back to the year 950 AD where you get to experience how the legendary Bloodborne clan came to be. Play as Beo Bloodborne as he along with a spirit are on a quest to rescue Beo's fiancé Clarice. Full voice acting is in this as well. I do NOT own the music for they belong to their rightful owners.
