Can You Escape Fate? An Escape the Room Game Inspired by Undertale

Ohhh boy. That left a sour taste in my mouth. While I admire some aspects, the second half was just awful, and the Genocide route doesn't even make sense. The entire genocide route felt like it was just crammed in because Undertale, as was the Fourth chapter. Change Soul to LOVE and Life to EXP and it's a perfect match. Why? Also, the use of "Despair" seems loose at best in use of the genocide route. The genocide route would make sense if there was more motivation than some random person in a cloak telling you to do it. In Undertale, killing in general can make sense as self Defence, as whether they intended to or not, the monsters themselves were posing a threat to you. In this, only one enemy you can choose to kill seems to attack you directly, and you have to attack before you know that. The other two, don't seem to be in control. And the story kinda started existing suddenly, like out of nowhere it hits like a hurricane. And Jax isnt even forgivable, I don't see why the Protagonist would forgive them since it was literally killing innocents to save one person. And they manage to kill more than you even can on a pure genocide route. The killing itself seems kinda stupid. I didnt understand you were supposed to use the knife there, I thought it was a puzzle item since I saw no reason to even consider killing the ghosts. And it means it when it says it'll never forgive you. I started to kill the twins and backed out to talk to someone before I even got past the second attack and it still branded me as a killer on the menu screen. Undertale permits attacking and it can be used in a pacifist route with repercussion only on Bosses. Oh, and the title. Literally one lines has to do with fate. There's no major event you gotta fight against, nope, just a simple choice. Also, can we please talk about how much Undertale is jammed in? Genocide, True Lab, Amalgamates. The battle system was tolerable, made sense as a bullet hell, but there was so much Undertale it seemed forced. Like, SUPER forced. Without what made it good in Undertale present. It felt like it was jammed in without love or effort put in.

In short: Try harder. I have faith in you. Almost all your other games fall just short of being good, with "Can you escape love" being the closest to acceptable. If you don't try too hard to advertise yourself and put more time into the story I know you can do good, since you're so close now. First half minus forced addition of genocide is ⅘, second half and forced addition of genocide is ⅖. And don't rely on Undertale so much, it'll go a long way.

It would've been better if you didn't make everything so clear and straightforward. Undertale was great because you could fill in the blanks for yourself instead of just having the whole story spoonfed to you.

That, and the battles go on for far too long here. It doesn't make me want to replay the genocide route.

Still this was an interesting game. The Harambe joke made me cringe until I remembered the whole game takes place in the past where stuff like that was actually relevant. Nice job.

Overall, this game wasn't good or bad. Just had too much Undertale in it and there literally is no battle system. Can't attack, just gotta hold out. It's basically True Pacifist every run, and you can't do anything about it. Also, really bad names to replace the level system. LV - Soul?? Life - EXP?!?! I mean, you could have at least turned LV into LVL or Level, and kept EXP, it would be a level system that actually makes sense. Also, please correct yourself. Many grammar and spelling errors. Fix all this and your game will be a-okay.. at least, maybe. Players won't forget v2.0.
