You can fix this by making a script called "scr_sound_fix" or something.
Here's the script:
sound_stop(argument0);
sound_play(argument0);
And instead of "sound_play(snd_whatever);" you just add scr_sound_fix(snd_whatever);

I know it's pretty stupid but it does work...

Shoot your way through an endless wave of enemies in your beautifully crafted Mushroom ship! Or what we call a Shroomcraft!! Uses state of the art weaponry and shielding to keep you safe! Although you aren't invincible so be careful there are some nasty enemies out there...
