What do you think?

Loved it, but just got a little repetitive as I advanced. I'd suggest a few more mechanics that augment the replayability, but otherwise it was great

Nice Game 5/5

6261 #1 ranked i like it xDDD

Quite solid! I played for a long time (700 kills, 14 rounds, then I quit). I found all of the weapons, got a great feel for them all. The whole game is really well made, the generator works pretty good (aside from a few useless doors in the middle of a room, with a couple blocks on either side), and the weapons are satisfying.

But I never got hurt. Rarely, anyway. I only ever "had to" use 2 medkits, and it was with only a sliver of health gone. The assault rifle sound is a little annoying and loud, and the shotgun is a bit quiet, but otherwise the sounds are good.

Zombie AI could be implemented beyond "walk towards the player if nearby", since you're using GM:S I recommend using mp_grid paths so they can find a way to the player and won't get caught on corners like they do with mp_potential_step.

Gameplay is kind of monotonous; especially later on. Ammo is common enough that I never ran out, zombies always have the same amount of health (aside from a few types), and overall it's the same thing continually. The only thing that kept be going was getting new weapons, and then once I got them all I just wanted to keep going to see if it got harder. It didn't.

But it's very solid and well made. The graphics, sounds, music, and gameplay are put together nicely and because of the random generations it's very replayable. Great work! Very nice game.

I can't wait to have a downloadable version. This game is superb

Will there be a downloadable version in the near future?

Check out the HTML5 version over at clay.io!

Thanks for playing. :)

Sorry for the delays of a legacy windows build.
See the game's news articles for information related to this.
In the meanwhile you can play the HTML5 version on Clay.io

The Game!

  • Explore the seemingly endless underground catacombs, filled with infected zombie soldiers.

  • Struggle your way through an infinite series of levels, each randomly generated from the ground up.

  • Look for keys to unlock doors, or destroy the surrounding infrastructure to make your own path to your goal.

  • Equip yourself with several weapons, including a combat knife, handgun, shotgun, assault rifle, and even timed grenades.

  • Features dynamic real time shadows.

  • See how long, and how well you can survive, while competing on an online high-score leader-board.

  • Unlock achievements, from killing your first zombie, to finding powerful weapons.

There is no escape, only death... and well, becoming a zombie.

About DeadBase - "Dead Basic"
--> What's the deal?

DeadBase was originally an idea I had a few years ago now, it was to originally feature a lengthy story, and linear gameplay.

I had recently taken up work on "Dead Basic", a strip down of some polished ideas from my original concept, which is/was to be submitted to the clay.io "Got Game?" competition, for HTML5. (note that the GameJolt version will be a Legacy Windows build.)

Not long ago I had made myself an example, (for later implementation in my games and to further my knowledge) of a basic random dungeon map generator, coined "DunGen". I have decided to use this in DeadBase: "Dead Basic".

Replay value is something loved by almost any gamer, in web games or commercial games.

--> What inspired you to make DeadBase?

The original inspiration for DB was from a few games I played from my early teen years.

Most of the story idea that people will be (unfortunately) unable to witness at the moment was a mash up between the original "Red Faction" and Blizzard's original "Diablo".

Things like the basic destructible environment seen in the original RF, and seemingly endless dungeons found in Diablo.

The zombie inspiration has always been around, from movies by George A. Romero, games like Left 4 Dead, but more importantly already existing web games, like Con Artist's "The Last Stand" series, as well as a few others.
