The Tale

How the threat to reality was made.

June, 1990

It all started as a simple prototype parallax game, and developers worked on it and all that stuff, but one thing. They didn't know that something was growing in the background of the codes, hiding from them. It was a glitch, some kind of twisted "malware" that fed up the codes of Eggman and the enemies. Its name was Beta. It named itself that.

December 23th, 1990

The Build got thrown away due to the enemies keep getting deleted, it was caused due to beta feeding off the enemies, and eggmans code. Beta developed more and more. And then, it became more than just a glitch that fed off codes; it crumpled the whole build, making it its own. It was as intelligent as Eggman. It edited the build and gave Sonic a sense of consciousness (by giving it an AI), just enough for him to fear it. It created itself a vessel to limit itself; if it didn't, its zones would be destroyed if it even moved an inch. But in some cases, if it feels a bit too angry, it escapes from its vessel to kill Sonic most brutally.

Now, you may say, "What happend after that?" Beta learned how to access reality's code (it's not even code, it's something that we can't name, something that reality is made out of). Beta didnt cause any harm for now. until--

2018 test subject.

One of Beta's first-ever subjects was named "Brandon." Beta installed his world onto a flash as an .exe format. You may say, "Why did Beta do this?" It just wanted to make sure his victims attempted suicide after playing his game. Brandon found it on its doorstep, and out of boredom, he decided to put it on his laptop. A message popped up saying "threat detected: sonicbeta.exe" before glitching away. like it was never there before. Brandon, unlike some other stupid people, decided to unplug the flash immediately, the exe file didnt. The exe file was redirected to his downloads folder. He clicks on the download folder and right-clicks on it. The delete option was not there. The only option there was "ERR: LISTNOTFOUND". The game automatically opened without Brandon even clicking it. He tries to unplug his laptop, which leads to him having extreme pain. a pain caused by beta, watching him. right behind him, just not visible. With no choice, Brandon decided to play the game. It booted up with the Sega logo, before the Sega logo's texture was turned into flesh and blood.

Aftermath

Brandon was not the same, from seeing Sonic getting brutally murdered, to a gameover screen with a shovel shoved into each of his family members' graves. Their corpse rotting as Beta stands behind them, its red irises glowing red. The image was distorted and pixelated. Brandon, after just a few days, attempted suicide. It succeeded, and Beta was happy with the results.

"How did anybody get access to their game?"

December 2020, 14th

Somebody found its build named "sonictokyotoyshow.exe", they found it in their long-lost flash, after finding it. And they thought that was a normal lost Tokyo toy show remake that they installed back then, just to make sure. The person played it, and since Beta knew this was going to happen, it forced its game to hide the hidden horrors. (basically covering up the hole in Green Hill, which leads to the next zone.) The person got fooled and posted it on the internet.

The moment the person posted it on the internet, beta made the game back into its hell, doxxing people who played it, silently murdering their family members behind their back, and then showing their ripped apart corpses in a pixelated kind of way to the person. making them feel guilty about even controlling Sonic, but the person can't do anything about it. If they unplugged their PC, or even tried? They'll feel intense pain that is generated by beta, with beta changing their values of pain and stuff, and the game closes the game. Beta normally leaves them alone after they complete Beta's game, and Beta waits for them to attempt suicide. Because what do they have left? Their family is murdered, they feel guilty, etc. If that didn't work, Beta will kill them with its own hands.
