Having never played this up till now, I decided to give it a play. I must say I quite liked it. The exploration with torches mechanic was pretty fun and I liked the TD aspect :D
Love the concept. Take it to the next level =)
Well made, very enjoyable. Please continue development on this sometime, it's a great concept and well executed.
Those spiders are absolutely terrifying. I'm not normally specifically arachnophobic, but seeing the dark figures wandering around just behind a single wall-thick barrier keeping them from eating my head... Then, when I finally did open a single point in the wall, one spider came through and I had two split-second moments. The first happened when I saw the spider squeeze through that hole and turn out to be much bigger than I thought it was going to be, definitely much bigger than the turret it's fighting. The second was when I turned the game off. I didn't have any technical problems with the game... However, when the very first enemy scares the bajeezus out of you... If you wanted that kind of reaction, then great. You did your job real quick-like. If you didn't want that kind of thing, I suggest making a starting enemy that is smaller than the giant terrorspiders that I couldn't wait around long enough to see attack my base. I could have put the rock wall back, yes, but nothing was going to keep out that spider that I had already let in. Also, I was scared enough by that point that I forgot you could place walls back down. I was just thinking "SHIT SHIT SHIT GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE" and then I hit the X button. You said yourself that you wanted to have multiple different enemies, make the bigger ones spawn farther away from the main base, or at least later in the game from the starting level (since you also said you were going to have levels). They could still be spiders, too. There's nothing against them specifically. Say you fight spider babies (which are still a lot bigger than normal spiders, if they can dwarf torches) that go down in a couple hits or whatever.
Very nice game! Runs perfectly on my PC. I suggest making the map larger, adding many different enemies and ores, and perhaps some bosses too!
Excavation is an unfinished strategy/action game set in the far future, where humanity has access to complex machinery.
You have been sent down beneath the Earth to carry out an excavation of rare materials, which were though to be long gone. Unfortunately, an infestation of giant spiders lies waiting for you, ready to devour your equipment.
You must rid each area of the vermin by collecting raw materials from your surroundings, and crafting them into helpful objects. Your Operation Station is your main base, and if the spiders are able to reach it and break it, then it's goodbye to you.
Please refer to the help page within the game for detailed information.
