alright, just played through the demo and i have to say that this is very promising! the gameplay feels nice, the plot is your classic tale of a ragtag party saving the world from certain doom, the battle system is strategic and fun and the sprite selection from Duelyst is amazing!) the overworld sprites also look very nice, although i think our party lacks some detail in their sprites, but, other than that, nice work!) also the morbin' time joke was so out of place it's actually really fucking genius lol
now for some downsides which there are a bit, luckily this is just a demo so these should be fixable enough: first off, the sprites you used for the first enemies (the one you encounter in the forest) look WAYYYYY too epic for the game's beginning - the guys there look like endgame boss enemies that should have a story and a cool mechanic attached to them, not some chumps who hit for 5 dmg max! i think you should swap the early game enemies for something more simpler - like goblins, skeletons or bandits - keep the final skelly boss, though, he's really cool and looks fitting enough for a boss! next, i found a bug that's not really detrimental but looks funny - if you start a battle near impassable tiles then your companion will be stuck in them until you move to the next map, i even have a screenshot of it if you're interested))) next on, i feel like you should add some more stuff to the maps to incentivize exploration - chests, secret passages, NPC's to talk with and learn about the game's lore - anything to make exploring maps worthwhile, right now there's just enemies roaming them. next, i think it's kind of weird that Urr's Bless of Prometheus spell is a damage-based one, when people see the words Bless or Blessing they assume it's a buff - i think renaming it to something like Hand of Prometheus or Wrath of Prometheous would be better) then, it would be nice if there was a way to cancel your move, like if you accidentaly pressed the Strike Back! button you could go back to the move selection menu. next, would be nice if the characters had a "down" graphic, too - pretty sure the duelyst wiki has sprites of that for each character, or at least a dying animation would be nice) and that's about it - no more qualms, but these should be enough to keep you busy for a week or two, hahaha!) hope i helped and i wish you guys developing this best of luck and nerves of steel!) take care!
YO, are those Duelyst sprites?! so glad to see someone salvage them and use for a game!) i was so bummed out when the servers for them close, i was also planning a game using them but i scrapped it - so glad someone else used them!) oh man now i have even more interest in the project!!!
