After the nightmare the crying child had, he goes to sleep and has another nightmare he cannot wake from.

So after surviving in his own nightmares, he went to the hospital to see what's up, and no one could believe it. They found out the kid had depression the entire time, and due to his dittophobia (animatronic fear), and the bite of '83, the kid was not able to sleep well. So, the hospital told William to give him some medicine so he could be calm and maybe, just maybe, don't have nightmares anymore.
