Quite a funny game! I really like the idea of physically swining the sword using the mouse, and I think there's great potential in that. Especially combining it with enemy design, such as enemies with shields that try to block your swing.
I did run into quite a few 'polishing' bugs, and the slow movement speed of the character annoyed me a little bit. Maybe adding a running feature would help? Also, it would be interesting to see if dodge rolling would add anything to the gameplay.
Overall a refreshing concept! I'll be on the lookout for upcoming updates :)
Great mechanics, but here a few things that I think would be a good change/addition to the game.
1) When we break the boxes, they remain on the floor forever and it can turn into a true mess. My suggestion is this: when we break the boxes, they remain for a few seconds on the ground, then disappear. It can solve the "chaos problem" and even demand less RAM.
2) The sound effects when we grab the gems are too loud compared to the rest of the game sounds, even the music.
3) When we take damage, there is no warning that says it. So take me as an example: I'm a natural rusher. I love to rush the enemy backline and take all the damage so I can destroy everyone. When I tried to do that in this game, I first think that I wasn't taking any damage, and suddenly I died. Then I realized that I hadn't any warning of how my lifebar was going. So my suggestion is: a sound effect, or even a visual effect, that let us know when we are taking damage.
Besides that, I really liked the game and I think Forlorn has a great potential :D
(srry for the extreme use of commas. English is not my mother language, but I'm trying to solve this :P)
Hey everyone we are 2 friends developing this game! Its our early demo, more of a proof of concept thingy.
In this early demo we promise you new and hopefully fun mechanics! Using your mouse to swing your weapons however you like, or using your spells like a brush continuing this game we will be implementing more "interactive" spells and ways to play the game. By the end we would like to have a variety of different skills and weapons which you can combine to your play style!
Also we have plenty more planned;
Items, weapons, skills, pets more elaborate ai and bosses, procedural maps,
typical dungeon crawler stuff + our new ideas!
We also have a story planned which we think is different and refreshing, can't give details now but we have some "wow" moments planned for you! Also we tought of a sneaky way implement the story element to the "procedural random dungeon" theme. So it wouldn't change the arcadeyness or rogue-likeness of the game!(hopefully)
We are two friends who are developing so we want to go kickstarter or steam pretty soon. If you think that this project needs to be developed your contribution in that way, or even your comments and sharing of our game is incomprehensibly awesome! Thanks!
We would like to continue working on this game because we love it so much, so would love to hear your ideas and toughts!! Also if you are interested in developing with us you can contact me!
