Hey,
I kinda dropped making this game. For anyone reading, Gun Parts and Zypherion's Forge is THE SAME game, it's just the mechanic of rolling parts was a bit problematic in the long run, and I got new ideas for the game. There is so much lore for it in my head, so many ideas, but my creativity died off with the game being full of placeholders and just looking ugly.
I used AI for all the text, even the description on the game's page (Zypherion's Forge, this one I wrote) and I deeply regret it as I grew to dislike AI for its only good use being making complete nonsense for fun. I just wanted text in the logs that I'm so proud of how they turned out, but even reading it, how it kept writing "cutting-edge" and such, it felt so robitc (which could maybe fit the lore, but I still feel bad for using AI so much for it). If I make an update I will replace the text with either hand written lore or with (yet another) placeholder.
Looking at the game I am proud of what there is, maybe it's not perfectly balanced but I did my best and had fun doing it. For now all I feel is that I'm not sure if I can top it, or even make something at the same quality. Gameplay wise the game, I think, is decent. I've been making random clickteam games since elementary school, I'm confident in my abilities to code a game there, and in that if I want something to work then I can make it work. I just feel like I'm lacking in graphics, I struggle to make things look good for me, but I did my best, even got some backgrounds made for me by friends, but I feel like asking for an entire artist for my game is too much. I think I will finish the game some day, even if it stays on placeholder graphics forever. The entire soundtrack for what I had planned was finished a long time ago, I am proud of it too, and it's probably the only thing that makes me even enjoy playtesting this game, expanding upon the themes of the fights and almost masking the graphics I couldn't make.
If anyone read this, thank you for doing so. A lot of my friends rage quit the game at 3rd or 4th stage, maybe the game is hard or unfair, but there are people who enjoy that. If you like them or know someone who does then give it a go, maybe you will enjoy it. I don't want all the guns to literally have the same dps, I want some to be stronger than some while other ones giving utility, safety. If you have any suggestions, leave them at Zypherion's Forge comment section, not here. I will not be coming back to Gun Parts as its just an older version of the former, but I just don't want to delete those older instances of it, in case I want to look upon all the versions of the game that lead me to where I am, if I even get anywhere with it.
the new build of the game is so different from this game that I will move the game to a new gamejolt page, even the name doesn't fit the game anymore. Consider all of this as a demo version of what I had in mind for the game, but it all grew into something way bigger than I thought.
I'm back. I fixed most of the game, made it more enjoyable and made music for it as well as added shooting sounds. The art needs a bit of a rework I think and then the game should be done.
okay so I don't know if I should post updates here or somewhere else, but the game is in the most finished state I'm willing to make it, the thing is clickteam is buggy as heck and a lot of the sprites are placeholders, mostly stages and most of the enemies- so if this game continues it will be on a different engine as clickteam has some bugs I can't/don't know how to fix, like fast running against a wall and also the game needs a bunch of improvements, like some nerfs on bosses or some dash/sprint ability for the player and stuff, but it was a great learning experience, I learned that I shouldn't be using clickteam for such games or I should actually learn it from someone/somewhere instead of going by myself for like 7 years I am using that engine-
Gun Parts
Gun Parts 0.1
Gun Parts 0.2
Gun Parts 0.3
Gun Parts 0.4
Gun Parts 0.5
Inspired a bit by the borderlands' system I made a simple game where you just fight on (currently 2) stages with a rifle that has three random parts
stock boosting your pierce, grip/body boosting the attack speed and barrel boosting the damage you deal
rolling three of the same "rarity" parts will grant you a bonus effect based on the parts
I'm planning to add maybe more parts but for sure more stages, maybe balance out the gun effects a bit if needed
I could easily add an endless mode as well which could be pretty fun, maybe even with an ability to roll new parts but not upgrading them since buying better parts will result in having the "grade 10" gun which is probably simply OP
if I find a way I also wanna add actual rarity, for now the grade of your parts are random so its an equal chance of getting the worst and the best gun as well as all the matching guns
in this early build you can click numbers from 1-9 to give yourself a full matching parts gun, a thing mainly for testing and for sure will be removed in the final build
here is a list of the special effects
special gun 1 - it doesn't change anything, its made of the worst parts
special gun 2 - hitting enemies spawns leaves that slowly bounce around the screen and damage enemies
speical gun 3 - every second a water puddle spawns on top of you, it stops enemies from moving around but disappears after 5 seconds letting you have up to 4 of them on the map
special gun 4 - your character will shoot out an energy ball towards the closest enemy (this kinda suck ngl, maybe I'll chang it later)
special gun 5 - your gun turns into a laser cannon, decreasing your attack speed but your bullet leaves a trail of laser on the map that damages enemies. if you hit a boss, the trail disappears
special gun 6 - extra attack speed and damage is set back to the base value (10) but every hit on a non-boss enemy gives you a stack of damage, every stack increasing your damage by 1% (if its not fixed there is a cap on 100dmg but its still a good gun)
special gun 7 - higher stats with extra 150 hp, the only way (for now) to increase your max hp
special gun 8 - lower damage, but a wall of laser sweeps through the screen every 5 seconds, damaging enemies if they overlap with it
special gun 9 - you can't shoot with the mouse anymore, but you have a flamethrower now
special gun 10 - more attack speed and way less damage, but every shot that hit an enemy explodes into a bunch of projectiles dealing massive damage to that enemy and everything that got hit by the projectiles
