entanglement mechanic is one of the worst mechanics ive ever seen in an undertale fangame, taking away your items because you don't understand how an attack goes on your first set of tries is awful and makes it like a mini-instakill, if anything the entanglement should take away your items when it's at 3 hits and not 1 as taking away your items is much more detrimental than a slowdown (though honestly it would be even better if it just slowed down your soul more and more per hit)
all in all the game tries too hard to be "canon" imo and it really hurts the quality, and with the entanglement mechanic added into it and the lack of checkpoints this seems to be better as a game you just watch rather than one you play
My issues with this game
- blue soul is too floaty. It feels too stiff to control in general
- the entangled mechanic is too unforgiving with how high the damage is. It carries most of the difficulty
- corridor isn't skippable
- the start of the fight intro cutscene isn't skippable
- healing doesn't heal KR if your HP gets maxed out. You're forced to just stall on the menu
- no checkpoint for phase 1.5
I have been looking forward to this work ever since it was announced, and it is truly an outstanding piece—its art, visual effects, and bullet hell design are all exceptional. However, it has a fatal flaw: the game is way too long, with extremely high damage output. The blue soul mechanic is hard to control, and some stages are excessively difficult. Getting hit by a black orb can also restrict your turns, forcing you to replay long, repetitive sections. One small mistake can set you back more than ten minutes of progress—it’s really punishing. Despite being out for so long, I still haven’t seen a single full playthrough video.
I really hope the difficulty can be adjusted to improve the experience, or at least add an in-game option to reduce damage.
That’s very important, as many players may never get to see all the content.
I truly love this game, and it can become even better.
This game visually looks amazing, but it is torture to play. Alot of the attacks are so bothersome to get past it ruins the experience. I dont say this lightly either, its really a shame because I like this game's style alot. I've played some decently hard games and done some nohits so I have some experience. There's something about these attacks that are so discouraging to play. There are indicators yet they hardly serve any purpose because everything happens way too fast and there's too many bones on the screen for them to even be useful, its only memory based most of the time. The blue soul movement feels slow, yet the attacks are really fast so one wrong movement and you're cooked 80% of the time. Learning the attacks is brutal because they are so difficult to sight-read. Even recording my game and looking back at the footage doesn't yield positive results because the patterns are very sophisticatedly complex. The game is challenging but not in the right way, its too punishing to even have much enjoyment playing the game. I know alot of this boils down to a skill issue which would be a fair assessment to make. I just think it would help if there was a fast restart button or a practice mode where we can play the attacks so they can be learned without it being a slog to play through. This won't fix everything wrong with the experience but I feel it would make it more enjoyable, but that's just me.
