Lightgame Demo
Hello everyone!
I would like to share with you a demo of my first game. The game is still in development, but I wanted to release a demo to see what people think about the concept.
Concept
This is a platform game where you have to reverse gravity to avoid obstacles and reach the end of the level.
The game is minimalistic, there are no necessary menus, cutscenes, etc., so the experience is uninterrupted.
The game's graphics are just lights, which I think gives it an interesting art style.
The game saves every second and loads instantly. This makes it great for short sessions, for example when loading other applications.
The game is divided into very small levels, so you can feel that you're making progress.
There is no HP bar or anything like that. If you run into an obstacle, you have to repeat the level.
When you finish the demo, you just start from the beginning, which allows for long loops of gameplay.
There are yellow switches that are required for 100% completion of the game. They're not necessary to progress, but they do add an extra challenge.
The game can be played in a browser or downloaded to a PC.
Tips
Controls:
A - move backward
D - move forward
SPACE - reverse gravity
Don't stop! Stopping and then accelerating may be problematic for players with coordination issues. Instead, try holding 'D' for a long time with a finger, and click space with a thumb.Â
Look at Arrow! If you repeatedly click space you may lose track of how is gravity set right now. Look at the arrow on the green ball to see, if it is set correctly.
Don't collect yellow switches! Yellow Switch challenge is for players, who already beat the game and want to master it. If you're playing for the first time you shouldn't do it.
Try to find a rhythm! Finding a rhythm in which you reverse gravity may be helpful, especially in long, narrow sections. Some levels may be very difficult without reversing rhythmically.
Watch the gameplay video! If you still have problems understanding the game try watching the gameplay video on the sidebar.
Leave a comment! If you think, that your problems are caused by poor game design leave a comment describing your issues, and I'll try to fix them. #platformer #retro #gravity
