What do you think?

I was thoroughly impressed with this version of the game! I think many of the changes made to how the game is structured and its plot really improved the experience compared to how it was before. I actually enjoyed my time with it this go around, I found the combat pretty fun, I really liked the way the boat travel worked, sectioning off parts of the world which before, created a very confusing level layout, and the story, while I admit was maybe a bit too on the nose as Disco Elysium-esque, was cool! I preferred it to how strange and sorta disconnected the plot felt before in the original version of Disc One. I do think the artstyle can be quite messy at times, and map designs can be done in honestly quite odd ways, but even with that it was just a nice and fun time!
It's not perfect of course, but what is! It was a pleasant surprise to see a game I really didn't enjoy before be something quite a bit better! Like, 4/10 ---> 7/10, you did pretty good! Even with the bugs that exist currently!
I'm actually quite excited to see what you do for Disc Two!
Best of luck!

P.S. Heartbreak Kid McCoppin is the best McCoppin.
P.S.S In the version I played, there were serious softlock bugs in the building with the Wrestling History Names and the guy you can give a Cigar to. You know the one. Dialogue kept loopin', I was playing Version 1.0.0.

For a game called Unbreakable, it seems to be fairly broken in terms of bug testing!

In all seriousness; holy hell this game is a breath of fresh air in the era of the Monster Update being NEVER EVER and the newest fangame being the shit post(not shitpost) known as Doleful. Can't wait for more.

Hey where did the old version go? I'm glad the new version is out but I would hate for teh original to become lost media

surely he has just decided to release the game when the minor content update is ready :)

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD...:

  • The game may auto-crash when certain songs are supposed to play. This isn't an issue of missing or corrupted files, so don't worry--it seems to be a quirk of how the game comes packaged. To fix it, simply drag the "LISA the Unbreakable - Blood and Sweatsocks Edition" folder outside of the folder you get from extracting the ZIP file and it should start working.

  • This game is awaiting an update, and while it is fully completable you may run into a few notable bugs, including an optional minigame that may soft-lock itself under certain conditions, a late-game side area with some jumps that work improperly, and unintentionally losing access to said area on certain (highly specific) routes. Be warned!

------

DISCLAIMER: Playing LISA: The Painful RPG first is strongly recommended!

LISA: The Unbreakable RPG follows Tim McCoppin in a tale of blood and sweatsocks. Journey across the archipelagic Abandoned Olathe on a quest to remember why you came here--and who it was for.

Blood and Sweatsocks Edition (Chapter 1 of 2) - Out now! :D

Fish and Taxes Update - Sometime soon! :)

For All Mankind Edition (Chapter 2 of 2) - Dunno :|

Features:

  • Sail the seas of Abandoned Olathe in this 5 to 7 hour episode.

  • Recruit 15 additional party members.

  • Master the art of sock puppetry.

  • Square up against warlords, traders, and familiar faces.

  • Stick your nose in the wrong places.

  • Less bugs and smoother jumps than before.

  • Broken Mode: A small new twist on Pain Mode's difficulty.

  • Invent an identity--and maybe learn to move on.

LAUNCH INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Extract "LISA - The Unbreakable - Blood and Sweatsocks Edition - Disc 1 of 2.rar".

  2. Make sure RPG Maker VX Ace RTP is installed: https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/run-time-package

  3. For the fancy standard launcher version of the game, open the folder and navigate to (and then run) ~/LISA IS DEAD/mkxp/lisa.exe.

  4. For the legacy RPG Maker version of the game, open the folder and navigate to (and then run) ~/LISA IS DEAD/Game. (Might require RPG Maker VX Ace on your system, I'm not sure.)

  5. If you run into an issue where the game crashes due to "missing" music, don't worry! See the top of the description for steps on how to fix it.

We're planning on a Fish and Taxes update, with a number of small features, fixes and QOL changes.

Features:

  • The ability to fish in 3 different environments. Catch them all!

  • A new party member.

  • New moves for existing party members (ex. for Dolf and Bark).

  • Party member reworks (ex. for Apollo).

  • A couple necessary nerfs (ex. for Shingo).

  • A few small areas that were previously unfinished and blocked off.

  • Being a tax cheat.

  • Something I can't quite put my finger on...

-----

The original, heavily outdated demo has temporarily been removed as I try to figure out how to make it not conflict with the more recent upload.

Release date: 6/20/2020.

Features:

  • 4 additional party members.

  • 2 to 3 hours of gameplay.

  • Search for something lost while battling super macho men, the men in black, and worst of all--owners of legitimate business.

  • Dreams and personal reflection--and much confusion.

After a while it stopped becoming "pain mode" and started being "the next part of the game".

In fact, it seems to have encompassed a "remake" of the existing game as well.

(1/5)

These last few months have been pretty unusual.

Since my last posts, I've been working on cleaning up the "pain mode" demo I had started work on over the summer.

1

And maybe I will have a change of heart one day! It only took 2 months to re-make a new Unbreakable with the same amount in it. If I worked hard for another 4 months, I could probably finish all the rest. But until then...

Have a nice day!

At some point in the future I will release the rest of what I made... it's fully playable! But, for now, I will devote my time to another. Maybe this next game I am working on won't hurt so bad when it lets everyone down.

(4/5)

I feel absolutely crushed to have let everybody down over the last few years. People I knew hoped Unbreakable would be the game that revives LISA for them, but all that came out of it was, honestly, a wet fart. Nobody wants that.

(3/5)

I am actually a ways into a full new Unbreakable. And a full new demo of that is playable with new characters, worlds, etc. But... it was flawed from the start. Because, I don't know what makes LISA good. I feel I was just trying to copy others.

(2/5)

Over the last few months I have received a lot of helpful responses and criticisms of Unbreakable. What I have taken away from them collectively is I don't think I'm fit to make a LISA game and it was overly presumptuous to think I was.

Update on Updates:

Unfortunately, 1.2.1 will be the last update for a while.

I am working on the Pain Mode update and the event overhaul, which I intend to release at the same time.

It could take anywhere from a few months to never.

Have a nice day!!!

Version 1.2.1

- Some bug fixes, especially related to the temporary party member.

- File size improvements by removing some unused data.

- You cannot defeat Karnov.

Version 1.2.0:

- Multiple bug fixes

- Lucius hangout temporarily removed

- New parallaxes

- New things to do in Cabbage Island

- No new hidden party members

Disclaimer: as a x.x.0 update, please know I will be looking for bugs in the near future!
