Well graphics wise - it's not really you I just HATE Unreal engine because its heavy for no good reason. I either see pretty good graphcis on maximum quality but laggy as hell or I see shitty graphics laggy just a tiny bit. Granted my computer is old but I'm running Crysis 2 on High for fu*k sake!
Another thing - make sure we don't get off the mountain cause I did and didn't know what to do for a while. Since it's an open world it's easy to get lost don't let the players wonder to boring places. Make hints that there's nothing hiding so that no one would think of going there. I got down the mountain and saw the low-poly trees cheat we all know and love. The problem is that you forgot to turn of the REFLECTIONS out of them which makes them look even more square-y.
When I got to the cave I expected something interesting instead I saw something that was clearly trying to be a puzzle. You didn't hide things or made them natural or even to make any sense. I saw four game devices which were obvious that I had to config. It's not fun to permutate or parameters just for fun. At least disguise it for something. Why would I ever want to play with the piping that shouldn't be on top of a mountain in cave? The answer is that I don't. It shouldn't be there, it isn't disguised or covered by a story - it's just random. Random classic adventure game devices put into one place. The vanishment of Ethan Carter on the other hand got TONS of those classic devices but the game never present it as bluntly and broingly as you did. Honestly I found my staying very boresome so I just left the game. My guess is that the game is in development so it's not that bad but it's still not fully intergrated, coherent and leading enough for a player to follow.
So disappointing! I waited for this to finish downloading and it didn't even work. I saw a menu and then... nothing happened. I clicked both New Game and Play and nothing changed. Don't know what's going on with this but I was expecting this cause it seemed like a good game but unfortunately this doesn't work. Windows 10. Hope you'll fix it.
This is a small game i created in roughly a week for the Myst JAM on itch.io, it is based on exploration and puzzle-solving just like the original Myst game.
The game is currently in a prototype state which means that only a few areas are accessible and only two puzzles work so far.
