Hey that was neat! I... definitely tripped up over the code until I realized the way it was written on the paper was not the order that the character was telling me it should be.
This game should be adapted into an Outer Limits/Black Mirror/Love, Death and Robots/your sci-fi anthology of choice episode. The story is really well crafted, with the letters the protagonist reads slowly building up dread in a Stephen King-esque fashion, and the final twist is clever and unexpected. The only thing that brings the story down is the fact that a big portion of it is explained in a long, non-interactive infodump at the very end - but that's completely understandable given the time restraints of a two-week game jam.
Nice job making the player and character connect. I like the concept and delivery on some of the more absurd aspects of the story. I just read over your trivia doc. The story was nicely architected.
One of the greatest , if not the best, story and storytelling of the jam entries. Good puzzles, amazing atmosphere, and it was fun you used variations in the fonts. What made me connect so deeply with the story were the drawings. It was visually surprising, and the lack of music increases the isolation feeling. You did a terrific game!
It was hard to imagine that there was another end. If not for the comments of other players, I would have been left with only the experience of the bad ending. Maybe because I completely forgot the button.
What I didn't like about the good ending is that it would have been impossible to deduce that something didn't fit, and that I felt stupid when Nolan started to explain everything. Maybe he should say something about those weird things when the player is exploring the submarine, just to make her doubt too, and so the final reveal is not so dissonant. And the expression of Nolan when he leaves the room left me intrigued... I'm not sure it was the real ending, to be honest, and I like that!
Great atmosphere, and really effective storytelling. Very affecting. I hope you do more like this, I really like the style.

Hope you don't mind feedback, but I think something that could heighten the effect of the ending is if it's foreshadowed a bit more that it's not as it seems (even bluntly like the character saying "something doesn't feel right here" ha ha), or if there's something more obvious that the player could figure out doesn't add up. (I'm pretty bad at picking up on things though to be honest!). I didn't really think about the situation until it was explained at the end but it was a really cool setup.
But that's very minor kinda critique really, the game was great as is of course! I just like thinking about this kinda thing ;)
