Neverlasting Souls is a rpg turn based battle system made in RPG Maker MV. .It is based on previous RPG Maker idea/concept. After the demo will be released, and RPG Maker 2003 version will be made.
This is a demonstration, meaning that the game will end abruptly at certain point in the story. It's purpose is to serve me experience in production, project managing and delivering a finished product (it is a demo, but it is a finished demo).

Action happens inside a dungeon, more like a tomb. Reno comes back from the dead, finding himself surrounded by undead. He has an illusion about the outside world, setting his goal to find a way out of the dungeon.

The project will follow these stages:
-Planing
-Production
-Polish

Planing

  • In this stage will be planned the main events in the game, game feeling, storyline, what the game must achieve

Production

  • In this stage only the bare bones for the game will be made. The maps and story driven events. No enemies, no sprites creation, no audio files, nothing beside events and maps. They will be very roughly created.

  • In this stage research will be done to check if planned features are possible to be implemented.

Polish

  • Everything that is left. Polish, polish, polish.

  • Maps and events will be the first to polish. Basically making the level design close to the beta stage. Everything else will be placeholders.

  • Implement the rest of the game features in the order of importance (probably like this: maps and events, battle system, character sprites, tilesets, other events and level design)

The game development and testing will follow these milestones:

  • Alpha

  • Beta

    • Final verification (Release)

[Pre alpha] ---- [Alpha] ---- [Beta] ---- [Release]

-The game will pass the alpha milestone when the game is playable without any blocker bugs. Most of the features are implemented, especially the features that contribute to the progression of the gameplay. All the features must be testable in order to pass the alpha.
-Alpha to beta will be seen more like a stage than a milestone. Here, the game will be polished the max. Everything will be implemented here.
-The game will reach the release milestone when there are no major bugs and all the features and assets are implemented and functional.

Tools to be used

  • RPG Maker MV

  • Clickup as project and task manager (or Cosmic everyday)

  • GameJolt for dev logs. Will be working on Neverlasting Souls Mondays, possibly Tuesday and Wednesday, ~3h per day. There will be dev logs almost every work day.

  • Libreoffice for writing in game dialogues or other texts for proofing, probably
