Noun Town is a language learning game for PC and Mac. You explore a hand-drawn open world, interact with objects and characters, and build up over 1,000 words and phrases through gameplay rather than drills. As your vocabulary grows, the town fills with color.
Three industry awards. 590+ Steam reviews at 87% positive. Over 200,000 players across the series.
12 LANGUAGES
Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin), Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), French, German, Italian, Russian, Greek, Egyptian Arabic, English. All included in one purchase — switch between them at any point.
HOW IT WORKS
Walk around a virtual town and interact with objects to learn vocabulary in context. A built-in spaced repetition system (SRS) schedules review automatically. Mini-games are woven into the world so the learning happens as part of playing. Speech recognition is built in for speaking practice, or use selection-based input if you prefer.
GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
No prior knowledge needed. The game introduces vocabulary gradually and uses spaced repetition to make sure things stick. Many players start a language from scratch and find it a much more natural entry point than apps or courses.
ALSO IN VR A full VR and Mixed Reality version is available on Meta Quest and Steam VR. The desktop version brings the same core game to PC and Mac without needing a headset.
