IMPORTANT!

Everyone: Please read the controls before playing! You can find a list of controls in the title screen. If you have a Xbox-like controller or similar that supports XInput, use it. Some keyboards (especially those found in laptops) are not supported since they do not support enough simultaneous key presses.

Linux users: Only 64-bit Linux is supported (32-bit support might be coming later). Run launch.sh to run the game.

Mac users: No Mac-version yet. According Google, it's possible to compile to Mac on Linux, though, so Mac version might be available in future. Before that, use Wine (or is it called Darwine on Mac?). Oh, apparently that doesn't work. Poor Mac-users, you just have to wait.

THE GAME

Operation Fungus is a 2D arcade-like shooter game, where you kill enemies to obtain crystals you can later use to upgrade your skills. In each state you must fill the power gauge before you can fight the boss monster. The more enemies you kill in row, the more crystals you gain, and thus, the faster the power gauge will become full. But beware, if you take damage, you will lose 10% of the power!

There are eight different missions.

THE STORY

In 20XX, a horde of aliens from outer space
invades Earth. They are Fungusians, a friendly
alien species from outer space. Their goal is to
bring happiness and joy to the world of man.
They love everyone and everyone loves them!

...Well, almost everyone. Anti-Fungusian Defensive
Force has started "Operation Fungus" to find
evidence that the Fungusians are actually doing
something evil. Anything that smiles so much
cannot be harmless!

So they create you, Lardy O'Pumpkin, the
ultimate killing machine. Your goal is to find
your way to Fungusian headquarters (which
locates on Earth for some reason) and prove
that Fungusians are a threat to mankind!

You must explore a small island in the Pacific
Ocean. It is filled with hostile Fungusians
(apparently not every Fungusian is friendly),
so there must be something they do not want
humans to see.

CONTROLS

In-game:

• Arrow keys/Dpad/right stick: move character

• Z / (A): Shoot

• X / (B): Burst shot

• C / (X): Evade (aka "teleport")

• S / (Y): Special attack

• A and D / [LB] or [RB]: Change special attack

• Enter / [Start]: Pause

• Escape / [Back]: End mission

Menus:

• Arrow keys/Dpad/right stick: move cursor

• Z / Enter / (A) / [Start]: select

• X / Escape / (B) / [Back]: cancel/quit
