PTAM 3 will be a bullethell shootemup like PTAM 2...

Eccept hopefully much better.

Allthough PTAM 2 was kinda playable, i actually had no idea how to program or design when i started. PTAM 3 will work similarly, eccept it will be much better.

-The complete history of the PTAM series for the no one who cares lol-

Once upon a time their was a gamejolt gamejam named adventurejam 2016. Me, a person who will enter any competition and having just recently learned what an indie game was, decided to enter.

For the two weaks of the jam i tried and tried to figure out how to use this new program i had just downloaded- gamemaker: studio. After days of trying to make a platformer and one spent in a cave, it was the final day of the jam and i had 1/6 of a really bad game.

I then decided it would be better to have something then nothing, so i re-aranged several of the original games sprites as enimys and attacks, drew a suprisingly high quality pixelart spaceship, and then tied it all together with the story "Shots Fiyerd" by lost pause and called it a game.

The game consisted of 3 levels where floppy disks, pineapples, and other random stuff moving from the top of the screen to the bottom, or sometimes other directions. The point is to fly the spaceship around the obstacles without getting hit, occasionally useing a pine tree for self defence. The main inspirations for this... "Game" were 1943 the battle of midway for the NES and a jontron episode.

Critical reception was good for some reason (i still dont understand why), so i decided to make the consept into a game that was atleast kinda playable- What would be called Pine Tree Awareness Month 2

Pine Tree Awareness Month 2, the next installment in the series, was sarted a few months after 1. PTAM 2, unlike 1, was released in a series of demos, each a great improvement over their predecessor. Pine Tree Awareness Month 2 demo 9 was the last release, and a completed game is not likely.

PTAM 2, unlike 1, was a game. It worked like a standard shooter, with a few aspects of a bullet hell shooter mixed in. The floppy disks, for the most part, were replaced with various spaceships that fiyerd orange rings.

The main inspiration, besides PTAM 1, was touhou project (as is evident in the bullet hell aspect, power system, and the gui on the right side).

The next (and currently the latest) PTAM ggameis Pine Tree Awareness Month TI. PTAM TI is really unimportant in most aspects. The only reasons it is mentioned is because it is a PTAM game and because it shows slight improvement over PTAM1 even though they were both made in a day.
