DISCLAIMER
As of right now, Potato Miners is on hold. The scope of the project is currently not possible for us, given the time we have to work on the company. We have put the project into our ‘projects vault’, and we will return to it when we see an opportunity to!
INTRODUCTION
Mine your way through the mineshaft, keep your structures organised and ruin that of your friend! Who will be the first one to find the hidden treasure?
Potato Miners is our current project, a split-screen experience where two players go head-on in the contest of finding the treasure first. Both players attempt to expand their mineshaft as fast as possible, finding valuable resources and selling them for coin. Coin can then be used to upgrade the pickaxe level until it reaches max level enabling the players to mine through the protective walls of the treasure room, taking the gold and winning the game!
HOW TO PLAY
The current demo version is only to be played locally with two players, one on mouse + keyboard and the other on a gamepad.
To win a match of 'Potato miners', you must find and break in to the hidden treasure room and claim the treasure before the other player does so.
However, the treasure room is made out of a strong type of stone which requires a higher level pickaxe to break.
You can buy pickaxe levels at the upgrade vendor at the spawn location for coin.
Sight upgrades can also be bought at this same vendor, which increases the players light source and mining distance.
Coin can be acquired by selling gathered resources at the coin vendor at the spawn location.
The higher the level of pickaxe a player has, the better the resources they can gather.
Whenever a player mines blocks, danger zones will appear warning the player for a soon-to-collapse ceiling.
To prevent this, players can buy supports at the item vendor. Supports will remove danger zones in a 3x3 area once on placement.
Bombs can be bought at the item vendor to kill other players and / or break blocks.
To defend against other players, players can polish stone blocks to turn them in to walls for a certain amount of time before turning back in to stone blocks.
Lanterns can be bought at the item vendor to give a better overview.
