This really does serve as a throwback to the 8-bit era. It's a very good recreation of that experience.
It does get boring though. I love the challenge but it just feels so sluggish. The player's hitbox is unforgiving and the continue system is too forgiving. I feel I should have to start from level 1 if I run out of lives. The enemies disappear before they are fully off the screen, but that is a minor gripe.
Don't get me wrong, it can be a fun game. I'm just not a fan of the pacing.
